Mumbai, February 28: Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut announced on Friday that she has settled the long-pending defamation case filed against her by veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar through mediation.

Ranaut took to Instagram to share a photograph with Akhtar, praising his kindness and generosity throughout the mediation process. She wrote, "Today, Javed Ji and I have settled our legal matter (the defamation case) through mediation. During the mediation, Javed Ji was very kind and generous. He even agreed to write lyrics for my upcoming directorial film."

While Akhtar has not yet commented on the settlement, the development marks a significant closure to the high-profile legal battle between the two.

The dispute originated in 2020 when Javed Akhtar filed a defamation complaint against Kangana Ranaut. He alleged that she made defamatory statements against him during a televised interview, damaging his reputation.

In 2021, Ranaut filed a counter-complaint against Akhtar, accusing him of criminal intimidation and defamation. She claimed that during a 2016 meeting at Akhtar's residence, he had threatened her and demanded that she apologize to a co-actor.

The settlement not only resolves the legal confrontation but also opens the door for a potential creative collaboration between the actress-turned-director and the legendary lyricist.

Chandigarh, June 10 (HS): Punjab Police formed an SIT to investigate the film actress Kangana Ranaut slap case. After the fury march of farmers' organizations in Mohali on Sunday, on Monday, the Director General of Police handed over the investigation of this case to SP City Mohali.

When film actress and MP Kangana Ranaut reached Chandigarh Airport on June 07 to go to Delhi, CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur slapped her while she was coming out of the scanner. According to Kulwinder Kaur, she was hurt by the statements made by Kangana during the farmers' movement, after which she took this step. Kulwinder Kaur has been suspended and a case has been registered against her.

After this, many farmers' organizations of Punjab united and protested on Sunday. Thousands of farmers started from Amb Sahib Gurudwara in Mohali and marched to Mohali SSP office. Farmer organizations had announced to meet the Director General of Police on Monday. Even before this, Punjab Police has formed an SIT to investigate the matter. Mohali SP City Harvir Singh Atwal has been made in-charge of this SIT. Airport DSP Kuljinder Singh and police station in-charge Perry Winkle have also been kept in the SIT. A three-member committee will now investigate the whole matter. SP City Harvir Singh Atwal said that the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the airport will be scrutinized in this entire matter. He said that the people seen in the footage will also be questioned. Both the parties will be called and they will also be investigated in this matter. After this, a report will be prepared on the basis of evidence and handed over to the higher officials. No time limit has been set for this yet, because a lot of people will be involved in it. Due to this, the inquiry may also take time.

Mumbai, Jan 23 (IANS) Actress-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut's political period drama 'Emergency' will finally hit the screens on June 14.

Sharing her thoughts on the film, Kangana said: “Emergency is my most ambitious project and second directorial post - Manikarnika, we have the best of Indian and international talent come together for this big budget, grand period drama.”

‘Emergency’, which stars Kangana as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, had been delayed several times.

In October 2023, Kangana announced that the political drama had been postponed to 2024 due to the 'jam-packed' second quarter of 2023.

Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, ‘Emergency’ is a mega budget depiction of the most controversial spectacle in the history of Indian Democracy. Standing at the core of this is one of the most sensational leaders of all time the first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Written, directed and produced by Kangana, the film’s release date was announced on social media by the actress through a poster which features her as the Late Prime Minister on the front page of a newspaper.

New Delhi, Nov 27 (IANS) Actress Kangana Ranaut, who will be soon seen portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the biographical historical film ‘Emergency’, visited the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, here, and shared a glimpse of herself with the AI-created version of Indira.

Kangana attended the launch of light and sound show called ‘Veerangnaon ki Mahagatha’.

Taking to the social media, the ‘Queen’ actress shared some pictures from her visit to the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

The actress wore a pista green coloured saree, sleeveless blouse, and a matching choker neckpiece and earrings. She kept her hair tied in a bun and opted for minimal makeup.

In the pictures, Kangana can be seen sitting on a chair with AI-created version of Indira Gandhi.

The actress captioned it as: “Was lovely chatting with IG he he he.... (since I made a film on Mrs Gandhi, IG was our crew code name for her) #emergency”.

The string of photos also shows Kangana posing with AI-created image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kangana captioned the post as: “Today a terrific light and sound show called, ‘Veerangnaon ki mahagatha’ is launched in Delhi. What an incredible step in the revival of our great history and Shakti spirit.”

New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) After the grand spectacle of the ‘Tejas’ trailer, the makers of the Kangana Ranaut-starrer have now amped up the hype with the movie’s first song 'Jaan Da'.

The song fuses rock music with some pop, electronic, and film music to create an emotionally power packed-patriotic track.

The singing of Arijit Singh never disappoints as his voice is not only passionate, but also powerful and soulful. This is very well accompanied by the composition of Sashwat Sachdev which perfectly complements Arijit’s voice, and even makes it better, while Kumar’s lyrics are beautiful.

The instrumentation is very well done, a simple but elegant mix of acoustic guitars, distorted electric guitars to drive in the rock punch, some use of synthesisers for an electronic flavour. The song is stylistically a merger between Punjabi pop, rock, and Bollywood music.

The production on ‘Jaan Da’ however stands very much in contrast to the film’s spectacle, because unlike a lot of other productions, the mix is heavily restrained and a bit dialed down.

Mumbai, Sep 3 (IANS) Director P Vasu has finally revealed the trailer of his upcoming Tamil comedy-horror film ‘Chandramukhi 2’, and it harbours much of the aura of the 2004 original, while being its own thing.

Among all this, the most noticeable is Kanga Ranaut’s portrayal of Chandramukhi, a beautifully haunting ghost of a long dead dancer.

Portraying the titular role, actress Kangana Ranaut portrays the dancer Chandramukhi, from the court of King Vettiyan Raja, and showcases her great dancing skills, along with her avatar of a beautifully seductive, and haunting dancer.

Then we also have actor Raghava Lawrence, who dishes out all the bombastic action that one can expect as Vettiyan Raja, along with Vadivelu stepping in as Murugesan and lighting up the screen with his great comic timing.

Cutting between events of the past and present, the movie has some elements of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ in it, as it is once again a family moving into a haunted palace, harbouring the angry ghost of an angry female ghost.

But this is minus the psychological horror of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, as the movie is actually showcasing supernatural horror mixed with some fun comedy.

The narrative is a bit of a mystery, though Kangana Ranaut’s Chandramukhi is very clearly a woman scorned who years for bloody vengeance, much like Monjolika from ‘Bhool Bhoolaiya’.

However, these comparisons should not really come off as a surprise as the 2005 ‘Chandramukhi’ itself is a remake of the Kannada film ‘Apthamitra’ which released in 2004.

Funnily enough, ‘Apthamitra’ in turn was a remake of 1993 Malayalam film ‘Manichitrathazu’ while ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ was its Bollywood remake.

The trailer boasts some amazing set design, great visuals and a great score by M.M Keeravani, as well as some great CGI as we see a digital panther which looks exceptional.

The trailer for ‘Chandramukhi 2’ looks both interesting, and features Kangana Ranaut in her most intriguing avatar yet. The movie will release on September 15, 2023.

Mumbai, June 28 (IANS) National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut and filmmaker Sandeep Singh, who's in the news for a bunch of upcoming films, from 'Swatantryaveer Savarkar' to 'Saharasri' and 'Tipu', are coming together to launch a film soon.

Neither of them disclosed much about the film, saying that its title and director will be released soon.

Announcing her collaboration with Sandeep Singh, Kangana, whose next film, 'Emergency', is in post-production, said: "Sandeep and I have been friends for over 13 years and have been wanting to do a film for a long time. Now, as we have found the right subject and the role we are all set to roll out soon, it is going to be the biggest film of my career and a fantastic role."

Sandeep Singh said he had been "eagerly waiting to work with [Kangana] for over a decade".

He added: "The films I offered her earlier did not match up to her calibre as an actress. Thus, I waited for the right one to come my way. It was a challenge to find a good script keeping Kangana's acting prowess in mind. Now, I have a meaty subject that only she can do, so I instantly got in touch with her. And this time she could not say no.

"This film will be loved by every Indian across the globe. I am grateful to Kangana for taking our friendship a step forward and giving me the privilege to bring our association to fruition."

The film's title and director will be announced soon. It will hit the floors early next year.

Mumbai, June 11 (IANS) Actress Kangana Ranaut, recently stirred the pot once again when she pointed the gun at a certain actor from the Hindi film industry when she expressed her displeasure with him being cast as Lord Ram in the upcoming film 'Ramayana'.

And in a follow up to her opinion, she explained things in great detail including her voice being suppressed earlier, the clout, social media empowering individual voices, the fall of Bollywood and the rise of a more democratic Indian film industry.

On Sunday, the actress took to her Instagram and shared a long note in her stories section. There were reports of Ranbir Kapoor being cast as Lord Ram in 'Ramayana' along with his wife Alia, who as per media reports, has been signed to essay the role of Sita.

Kangana reacted strongly to the development as she wrote in her Stories, as she wrote, "Elaborating more on yesterday's stories there are all kinds of menaces in the film industry but the worse is this Duryodhan (white rat) and Shakuni (papa jo) Jodi. They self admittedly call themselves most gossipy, jealous, bitchy and insecure, they refer to themselves as the information and broadcasting ministry of gossip in films."

The actress, however, refrained from directly taking any names. She said the entire industry is aware of the duo's penchant for gossip and went on to say that they were ones behind the blind items on the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away in June 2020.

She continued as she also touched upon the topic of her and Hrithik Roshan's infamous fight back in 2016, "Entire film industry knows this, they were the main suspects behind all fake blind items against Sushant Singh Rajput. That pushed him to commit suicide. They also spread all kinds of nasty rumours against me and forcibly played referees in mine and HR fight. Post that their interference in my life and career has been beyond harassing. Since they are bankrupt and media has died a slow death as of now SM is the only media, now the only source of news are celebrities own accounts (sic)."

The actress shared that Bollywood has witnessed its great fall and now all film industries are coming together as a unified force in the form of Indian cinema cutting down on Bollywood's clout.

"With this new change in the society my voice is more audible, otherwise I said the same things for years but they echoed back like I was captured in a soundproof dark chamber, no media carried what I said and they spent huge amounts of money in twisting my words and using them against me.... But then great fall of Bollywood happened, empires crashed.... Here we are now looking at the rise of new collective Indian film industry which will be built on the pillars of democracy, equality and true merit... Thanks (sic)," she concluded.

Mumbai, June 3 (IANS) After Kangana Ranaut called herself a "victim of capitalism" and bid adieu to the "airport look," author Shobhaa De hailed the Bollywood actress for exposing the fashion industry.

De also said that it is about time a star spoke up against the "nonsense" airport look.

De tweeted: "About time a star spoke up and debunked the 'airport look' nonsense. Thanks for frankly exposing the pressure exerted by foreign brands exploiting desi insecurity at the expense of our crafts communities."

Kangana on Friday took to her Instagram stories, where she shared a slew of pictures from her airport.

She took the credit for starting the trend of the airport look in India. She shared a string of airport looks and captioned the picture slide: "Only person to blame for starting the stupid trend of airport looks."

She then tagged herself as a "Victim of capitalism."

"Brainwashed by magazine editors and fashion industry to look a western woman so that I only fill the pockets of international designers. Ashamed to repeat clothes always buying without any care about the impact of my choices on the environment."

"While I act like a bimbo, the system hails me as a fashionista to encourages me to promote more international brands while my own people like weavers and handicrafts men dying slow and steady death. Then they shrewdly start to price tag everything I wear making it a vanity issue for me and guess what I fall for the trap now more than style it's about brands even for a genuinely stylish person," she added.

Kangana said that fashion brands make "you work for them for free by just sending clothes and bags they start to hijack cultures and tradition of an entire civilisation."

Bidding adieu to the trend of airport looks she added: "If this is how an Indian woman looks then what does an American woman look like? Bye bye airport looks, we have gone past that phase. Now it's time even if I buy one piece of clothing, I ask myself how many Indians benefit from this!"

Mumbai, April 30 (IANS) Actress Kangana Ranaut was spotted at the Mumbai International Airport on Sunday jetting off to Haridwar. She would be attending the Ganga Aarti. Donning an ivory coloured saree, the actress sported a statement necklace and rounded up her look with her wavey traces loosely tied.

Talking to the paparazzi stationed at the airport, Kangana said, "I'm going to Haridwar just in case you're wondering where I'm headed after getting decked up. Waise aapne pooccha toh nahi par maine socha main hi apko bata dun, main Ganga Aarti kanre jaa rahi hoon (I thought I would tell you that I'm going to attend the Ganga Aarti) and tomorrow I'll be going to Kedarnatha.

When one of the paparazzo told her that he is afraid of talking to her as he said, "Aapse baat karne mein darr lagta hai", Kangana quipped by saying, "Lagna chaahiye, agar aap samajhdaar hain toh lagna chaahiye (That's how it should be if you're wise enough)."

Earlier, Kangana had expressed her displeasure with regards to some paparazzi spying on her at the behest of a well-known actor, as per her claim. She even penned a long note in her Instagram story hitting out at the said actor.

Mumbai, March 23 (IANS) As she turned 36 on Thursday, actress Kangana Ranaut began on a positive note by apologising to those she has hurt and even shared a message for her fans and followers.

Kangana took to Instagram, where she shared a video looking regal dressed in a green saree with her hair tied back.

The 'Dhaakad' actress first thanked her mother, father and her gurus (Sadhguru and Swami Vivekanand) for their teachings. She then went on to talk to her 'shatrus'.

She was heard saying: "Mere shatru, jinhone aajtak mujhe kabhi araam nahi karne diya. Chahe jitni bhi safalta mili, phir bhi mujhe safalta ke marg pe tatpar rakha. Mujhe ladna, sangharsh karna sikhaya. Unki bhi main humesha abhaari rahugi."

"Doston meri vichaardhara bahut saral hai, mera achran, soch bhi bahut saral hai aur main humesha hi sabka accha chahti hu. Iske chalte agar maine kabhi kisi ke liye deshhit mein ya larger picture ke liye maine kisi ke liye kuch kaha ho aur unko uska dukh hua ho, thess lagi ho, main uske liye bhi shama chahti hu," she said.

She added that she only has "sneh, suvichaar (affection, good thoughts)" for everyone.

On the work front, Kangana has just wrapped up shooting for 'Chandramukhi 2'. She also has 'Emergency', 'Tejas', 'Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda' and 'The Incarnation: Sita' lined up.
