Nava Raipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India is moving decisively towards eliminating Naxalism and Maoist extremism, and the country is breaking the backbone of terrorism by pledging to eradicate it completely. He made these remarks while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the new Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly building in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur.

As per agency report, Modi said that India’s resolve to destroy terrorism is yielding results and that the nation is witnessing remarkable progress in its fight against extremist ideologies. “India is moving forward to eliminate Naxalism and Maoist terror from society. The country is filled with pride from unprecedented victories, and that spirit of confidence is reflected throughout the new Chhattisgarh Assembly complex,” he stated.

Emphasizing the importance of democratic institutions, the Prime Minister said that the Assembly is not merely a place for making laws but a center for shaping the destiny of the state. He urged legislators to ensure that every thought emerging from the Assembly carries a spirit of public service, a commitment to development, and a belief in taking India to greater heights.

Modi remarked that the true significance of inaugurating the new Assembly lies in the collective resolve to uphold democratic values and perform one’s duties with integrity. He added that good governance must be guided by the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” — citizens are like deities — and every decision taken in the Assembly should be centered on public welfare.

Calling for reforms that make life easier for citizens, Modi said that laws should be framed to accelerate development and improve governance efficiency. He highlighted that in the past 25 years, Chhattisgarh has undergone an extraordinary transformation — from being identified with Naxalism and backwardness to becoming a symbol of prosperity, security, and stability. He credited this transformation to the hard work of the people of Chhattisgarh and the efforts of successive BJP governments.

Modi described the newly inaugurated Assembly building as a “temple of democracy,” symbolizing transparency, accountability, and public voice. “Every pillar here represents integrity, every corridor reminds us of accountability, and every chamber reflects the voice of the people,” he said, adding that the decisions made here will shape Chhattisgarh’s destiny for generations.

The Prime Minister said that India today is moving forward with a balance of heritage and development — a vision that is reflected in every policy and decision of the government. Referring to the sacred Sengol in the Indian Parliament, he said it stands as a symbol of India’s democratic legacy, while the statues and galleries in the Parliament complex showcase the depth and strength of India’s democracy to the world.

Modi also said that the celebration of Chhattisgarh’s Foundation Day marks the beginning of a larger goal. By 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of independence, he said Chhattisgarh will play a vital role in realizing the vision of a developed India.

Earlier, the Prime Minister unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the premises of the new Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly building.

Raipur, May 12 — Thirteen people, including nine women and four children, were killed and fourteen others injured in a tragic road accident that occurred late Sunday night in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. As per agency report, the incident took place near Saragaon village in the Khairora police station limits when a trailer collided with a goods vehicle carrying more than thirty people returning from a family event.

According to local police, the victims were residents of Chatoud village in the Abhanpur police station area. They had attended a family function in Bana-Bansari village and were traveling back in a goods vehicle when the accident happened. The vehicle reportedly lost control and collided with an oncoming trailer on the Balodabazar-Raipur road near Bangoli-Saragaon, leading to a chain reaction in which it struck another vehicle as well.

Senior Superintendent of Police Lal Umed Singh stated that the impact caused several passengers to be thrown out of the vehicle onto the road. Emergency services were dispatched to the site upon receiving the information, and police personnel facilitated the immediate transfer of the injured to Raipur's Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital.

Raipur District Collector Gaurav Singh confirmed that thirteen people died in the crash and that the district administration had promptly responded to the scene. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 5 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 to each injured person. The Chief Minister also assured that the government stands in solidarity with the affected families and has directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.

Additionally, he instructed the district administration to continuously monitor relief and rescue operations and to provide all necessary support to the victims’ families.

Bijapur: A fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday morning resulted in the death of 18 Naxalites, while one security personnel also lost his life. As per agency report, the exchange of fire took place in the border region between Bijapur and Dantewada districts, under the jurisdiction of the Gangloor police station.

According to police officials, a joint team of security forces was dispatched on an anti-Naxal operation in the area. The encounter began around 7 AM when the forces came under heavy fire from the Naxalites. In the prolonged gunfight that ensued, security personnel managed to neutralize 18 insurgents.

Authorities confirmed that a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site. However, the operation also claimed the life of a District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel from Bijapur.

The security forces are continuing their combing operation in the area to ensure no remaining threats persist. The region has been a hotspot for Naxal activity, and this latest encounter marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to curb insurgency in Chhattisgarh.

Bijapur, February 9 – In one of the biggest crackdowns against Left-wing extremism, security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh eliminated 31 Naxal insurgents during an intense encounter on Sunday morning, police officials confirmed. However, the operation also claimed the lives of two security personnel, while two others sustained injuries.

According to Sundarraj P, Inspector General (IG) of Bastar Range, the operation took place in the dense forests of the Indravati National Park, where a joint team of security forces had launched a Naxal eradication campaign. The encounter resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and explosives from the site.

While confirming the casualties among the security forces, officials stated that one of the deceased personnel was from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the other from the Special Task Force (STF). The two injured personnel were reported to be in stable condition and were being shifted to a better medical facility for further treatment.

Reinforcements have been deployed in the area, and a massive search operation is still underway to ensure the complete dismantling of any remaining insurgent presence.

This year alone, security forces have neutralized 81 Naxal insurgents in separate encounters across Chhattisgarh, with 65 of them being killed in the Bastar division, which includes seven districts like Bijapur.

The state police statistics reveal that in 2023, a total of 219 Naxals were eliminated in various encounters across Chhattisgarh, highlighting the intensified anti-Naxal operations being carried out by security forces.

Balod, December 16 – A tragic road accident claimed the lives of six people, including four women and a seven-year-old child, while seven others sustained serious injuries in Chhattisgarh's Balod district, officials reported on Monday.

The Incident

The accident occurred late Sunday night near Chorhapadaw village in the Dondi police station area when a truck collided with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The victims were returning to their village after attending a naming ceremony in Dondi.

The deceased have been identified as Durpat Prajapati (30), Sumitra Bai (50), Manisha Kumbhakar (35), Sagun Bai (50), Emla Bai (55), and a seven-year-old boy, Jignesh.

Rescue and Relief Operations

Upon receiving information about the accident, police dispatched a team to the site to rescue the injured and retrieve the bodies. The injured were initially taken to Dondi Community Health Center for primary treatment and later referred to Rajnandgaon District Hospital for further care.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation into the incident is underway to determine the cause of the collision.

This tragic accident has cast a pall over the Gurda village community, where the victims hailed from.

Kawardha/Raipur, 20 May (HS): Fifteen people died in a horrific road accident on Monday afternoon near village Bahpani under Kukdur police station of Kawardha. All of them were returning to their village in a pickup after plucking tendu leaves. Meanwhile, the pickup met with an accident in which 15 villagers died, including 14 women and one man. There were a total of 25 people in the pickup. The injured were admitted to the hospital with the help of police and villagers.

According to the information, the villagers had gone to the forest to pluck tendu leaves. In the afternoon, after plucking tendu leaves, the men and women of the village were returning back to the village in a pickup vehicle. Meanwhile, the speeding pickup went out of control and fell into the ditch. There were about 25 people in the pickup at the time of the accident. Of these, 15 villagers died. Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted to the local hospital. The police team reached the spot for relief work.

Kawardha SP Abhishek Pallav said that a total of 15 villagers have died in the accident, of which 14 are women and one man. The injured have been admitted to hospital. The condition of some is said to be critical.

Raipur : Late Sunday night, a speeding pickup collided with a mini truck parked near Kathia village, 18 km from Bemetara in Chhattisgarh, resulting in a devastating accident. The collision claimed the lives of nine individuals, including five women and three children. Additionally, more than 20 people sustained injuries, with the condition of four reported as critical.

The accident occurred when more than 30 individuals from Patharra village were returning in the pickup after attending a Chhathi program in Tiravaiya village, located 8 kilometers away. After the event, while returning home, the pickup lost control and collided with the parked mini truck, leading to a fatal outcome. The impact was severe, causing the pickup to be completely damaged.

Authorities identified the deceased as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushboo Sahu (39), along with three children, Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6), and Twinkle Nishad (6).

Upon receiving information about the accident, Bemetara Collector and Superintendent of Police immediately reached the spot, overseeing the transfer of injured individuals to the Bemetara district hospital. MLA Deepesh Sahu also visited the hospital, extending his support to the injured and inquiring about their well-being.

Raipur, Chhattisgarh - A tragic accident on Tuesday night claimed the lives of 13 people in Durg district, Chhattisgarh. A bus carrying employees of a private company, Kedia Distilleries, plunged into a 40-foot deep pit on the Raipur-Durg road near Kumhari police station.

Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan expressed his grief over the incident on Twitter, stating, "The news of the death of 13 people... is extremely painful. May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath grant salvation to the departed souls..." He also wished for a speedy recovery of the injured.

Magisterial Inquiry Launched, Compensation Announced

The district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident. Authorities are examining potential factors like bus fitness, the open mine pit, road conditions, and company safety measures based on statements from survivors and local residents.

The company has confirmed the deaths and announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased, along with a job opportunity for one family member. The district administration has also provided Rs 25,000 for funeral expenses.

Investigation Underway

A team led by AIG Traffic Sanjay Sharma, Chairman of the Inter State Department Lead Agency Road Safety Chhattisgarh, has begun a comprehensive investigation into the accident. They will inspect the bus condition, looking for signs of negligence or mechanical failure.

The identities of some of the deceased have been confirmed as Kaushalya Nishad, Raju Thakur, Tribhuvan Pandey, Manoj Dhruv, Miku Bhai Patel, Krishna, Ram Bihari Yadav, Kamlesh Deshalre, Parmanand Tiwari, Pushpa Devi Patel, Shanti Bai Dewangan, and Amit Sinha.

Raipur, Dec 13 (IANS) Vishnu Deo Sai took oath as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.

Sai (59) became the first tribal CM of Chhattisgarh ever since it came into existence as a separate state in 2001.

The swearing in ceremony was held in Raipur in the presence Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP's National President JP Nadda and the Chief Ministers of several BJP-ruled states.

Sai has earlier served as a Union Minister in the Modi Cabinet. His selection for the top post came as a surprise to many as several senior BJP leaders, including the three-time ex-CM Dr. Raman Singh were top contenders for the post.

Dr. Raman Singh, who is the senior-most BJP leader in Chhattisgarh, has been made the Assembly’s Speaker.

Though Sai has years of experience in electoral politics and has also worked at the grassroots level, he was not seen as a frontrunner as he lacked a public profile.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao also took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
