Delhi, 16 May (H.S): The Indian government has recently taken a significant step towards making healthcare more accessible and affordable for its citizens. In a bid to reduce the financial burden on individuals suffering from common ailments, the government has reduced the prices of 41 commonly used medicines and six formulations used to treat diseases such as diabetes, heart and liver ailments.

This includes antacids, multivitamins, and antibiotics ? all of which are essential in treating various health conditions. The Department of Pharmaceuticals and National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) have instructed pharmaceutical companies to pass on the information on the reduced prices to dealers and stockists immediately.

This decision was taken at the 143rd meeting of the NPPA, with the aim of ensuring that the cost of essential medicines remains affordable for the public. With over 10 crore diabetes patients in India, one of the highest numbers in the world, this price reduction is expected to benefit a significant portion of the population. This move follows the release of annual revised ceiling prices for 923 scheduled drug formulations and revised retail prices for 65 formulations by the Department of Pharmaceuticals last month. This step by the government is a welcome move towards making healthcare more accessible for all individuals in the country.

New Delhi, Jan 8 (IANS) Due to miscalculation of a zero, Mankind Pharma ended up donating Rs 250 crore instead of the initially planned Rs 21 crore towards Covid-19 relief efforts for frontline workers, MD Rajeev Juneja said during a recent interview.

In conversation with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on The Ranveer Show, Juneja said the huge sum was the result of a miscalculation, after a family debate on donating money for Covid-19 relief.

“We had a debate at home. We felt that we have a lot, and we should definitely give. We thought of donating Rs 21 crore. But my son said, you have such a big business, you should donate more. At the same, it was reported that Akshay Kumar donated Rs 50 crore. My son came to me and pressed upon the topic again. And we immediately went ahead with it,” Juneja, told Allahbadia on his podcast called “The Ranveer Show”.

Juneja, 58, said that making contributions known to the public, instead of keeping it discreet, can inspire others to give.

“There is a popular saying that when you are giving from one hand, the other should not know. I think the other hand should know, it inspires other people”.

The pharma giant donated towards the Prime Minister's relief fund, and also to various other funds as well as oxygen cylinders.

“We donated plenty of stuff. It was an emotional thought. As a family, when we think of a noble deed, we announce it to the family. We understood that doctors and nurses were dying and we started calculating estimates. However, due to miscalculation, the estimated donation amount had one less zero than the actual amount we donated,” Juneja said.

Mankind Pharma had also announced that it would donate a certain amount of money on the death of any frontline worker including chemists, police officers, nurses or doctors.

“What we had pledged, we had to donate 10x more. So we ended up giving around Rs 250 crore at that time. We gave without any expectation. But we got so much love and appreciation for that. It was all unexpected. It happened just like that. Something big happened out of a mistake,” he further added.

Juneja stated that the company’s contributions were met with unexpected love and appreciation, turning a mistake into a remarkable act of kindness.

Chennai, Jan 2 (IANS) Drug maker BDF Pharmaceuticals on Tuesday said it has introduced the world’s first oral solution in 32mg/mL for management of prostate cancer.

The drug BDENZA will be available at Rs 27,000 for 150 mL.

As per a company statement, this innovative formulation marks a significant step forward in providing an effective dosage form and the dose reduction owing to tolerability of the product by patients is a big advantage of this oral solution, as dose regimen can be adjusted based on the volume of consumption.

Prostate cancer is a growing concern, with an estimated 1.2 million new cases diagnosed globally each year and an estimated 375,000 deaths, according to the WHO.

In India, a total of 37,416 cases of prostate cancer were reported in 2016 and the number was projected to increase to over 47,000 cases by 2025.

Considering the majority of the population suffering from prostate cancer is geriatric, certain aspects like taking high dosage medication is difficult, the company said.

New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS) Cipla shares were down by more than 7 per cent on Thursday after the US FDA issued a warning letter pertaining to its Pithampur manufacturing facility.

Cipla shares were trading at Rs 1,172, down 7.8 per cent.

Cipla said it has received a warning letter dated November 17 from US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the routine current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) inspection conducted at our Pithampur manufacturing facility between February 6-17, 2023.

“This Warning Letter summarises contraventions regarding methods or controls followed at the facility which do not conform to the prescribed cGMP regulations and contains directional guidance for necessary corrections,” Cipla said.

“The company will respond to the Warning Letter within the stipulated timelines and work closely with the FDA to address the concerns in a holistic and timely manner to ensure sustained compliance.

"We uphold quality and compliance with utmost importance and remain committed to be compliant with the cGMP quality standards," it added.

Gujarat (India), October 31: Infinium Pharmachem Ltd, engaged in the manufacturing of Pharma Intermediates and APIs, Iodine derivatives has reported a standalone net profit of Rs. 6.13 crore for H1FY24 ended September 2023 with Y-o-Y growth of 22.7% as compared to the net profit of Rs. 4.99 crore in H1FY23. The reduction in the raw material costs and operational efficiency have contributed to the profit growth.  Revenue from Operations in H1FY24 was reported at Rs. 50.85 crore. Profit Before Tax during H1FY24 grew 22.3% to Rs. 8.17 crore as against Profit before Tax of Rs. 6.68 crore in H1FY23. EPS for H1FY24 was reported at Rs. 4.41 per share.

The tree plantation drive was undertaken at Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ plant in Sanand in association with Sanand GIDC and CATCH Foundation, the CSR partner for the event.

Ex MLA Shree Kamabhai Rathod along with other local leaders and officials were at the tree plantation drive. Speaking on the occasion, he lauded Emcure Pharmaceuticals for the drive and said it would serve as an inspiration to the community to actively participate in environmental initiatives. To begin the drive today, 73 trees were planted today as a part of the drive,  the drive will continue for 5 days to cover a 3-kilometer road inside Sanand GIDC.
