The Telangana government has initiated a skill development program aimed at training transgender individuals in drone operation, hotel management, and driving. A.

Lakshman Kumar, the state's Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, and Transgender Persons, inaugurated the program on Saturday, stating that the government is making several efforts to enable the transgender community to live with respect and dignity in society. According to an official release, he mentioned that the government is seriously addressing the long-standing social and economic challenges faced by the transgender community. The minister highlighted that the government is focusing on education, skill development, and employment opportunities for transgender individuals to help them achieve economic self-reliance and self-respect.

Under this program, 50 transgender individuals will receive driving training through the 'Maruti Suzuki Driving School', enabling them to secure jobs as drivers and pursue self-employment opportunities. Additionally, 25 transgender individuals will be trained in hotel management and as canteen chefs through the 'National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management' (NITHM), facilitating their employment in hotels, restaurants, and catering institutions. The release stated that 16 transgender individuals will receive drone pilot training at the 'Telangana State Aviation Academy' located in Begumpet.

Drone technology is rapidly in demand in sectors such as agriculture, surveying, and industry. A total of 91 transgender individuals will be trained under these three programs, with an expenditure of 17.72 lakh rupees, for which the government has allocated a special budget.

Following the suggestion of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Hyderabad police had previously appointed transgender individuals as traffic assistants to aid police personnel.

New Delhi, August 31 – The Telangana government has taken a significant decision by nominating former Indian cricket team captain Mohammed Azharuddin and Professor Kodandaram Reddy to the state Legislative Council (MLC) under the Governor’s quota. The approval for their nomination was finalized during a cabinet meeting, sparking discussions across both political and sports circles.

Azharuddin expressed his gratitude to the Congress leadership through a post on social media platform X, describing the nomination as an honor and a humbling moment. He thanked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and KC Venugopal for their trust and blessings. He also conveyed appreciation to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, TPCC President Mahesh Goud, and state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan for their guidance and support. Azharuddin stated that he is committed to serving Telangana with honesty and dedication.

As per agency report, Azharuddin’s political journey has seen several milestones. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, in 2009. In 2014, he contested from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan but was defeated. In 2018, he was appointed working president of the Telangana Congress, and in 2023, he contested from the Jubilee Hills constituency but lost to BRS leader Maganti Gopinath. Following Gopinath’s death, the Jubilee Hills seat fell vacant, and Azharuddin was among those considered for the upcoming by-election. However, the party has now decided to send him to the Legislative Council.

The decision to nominate both Azharuddin and Prof Kodandaram Reddy reflects the Telangana government’s attempt to balance political representation and expertise while acknowledging Azharuddin’s stature as both a sports icon and a political figure.

Hyderabad, May 16 – Participants of the Miss World 2025 competition visited the revered Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Yadagirigutta near Hyderabad on Thursday, where they offered prayers and took part in traditional rituals. The visit was part of a broader cultural immersion experience planned for the international contestants during their stay in Telangana.

As per agency report, a group of contestants from nine countries dressed in traditional Indian saris visited the temple, participated in the ‘Deepaaradhana’ (traditional lamp-lighting ritual), and received blessings from the temple priests after offering prayers to the main deity. The visit was marked by a celebration of local traditions and heritage, with the contestants also joining local women in performing the traditional ‘Kolaatam’ dance with sticks, adding to the vibrant cultural exchange.

Another highlight of the day was the visit by 25 contestants from Africa to Pochampally village, internationally renowned for its handwoven ikat sarees. Recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the ‘Best Tourism Villages’ globally, Pochampally gave the contestants a firsthand look into the intricate art of ikat weaving. Some participants even tried their hand at spinning yarn using traditional charkhas (spinning wheels), expressing admiration for the skill and craftsmanship of local artisans.

At a village amphitheatre, the contestants witnessed a unique fashion show showcasing ikat and handloom sarees worn by Indian women. The show drew appreciation from the guests, who praised the elegance and cultural depth of Indian textiles.

The Telangana government has drawn up a strategic plan to utilize the global spotlight of the Miss World pageant to promote the state as a premier tourism destination, enhance its international image, and attract future investment. Hyderabad, March 18 – Three members of a Telangana-based family lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Florida, USA, including a 35-year-old software professional, her six-year-old son, and her mother-in-law. The victims' relatives confirmed the incident on Monday.

According to Mohan Reddy, the father of the deceased woman Pragnati Reddy, the accident occurred when a truck collided with their vehicle. While Pragnati, her young son, and her 56-year-old mother-in-law succumbed to injuries, her husband, who was driving the car, survived but sustained injuries.

The family belonged to Tekulapally village in the Ranga Reddy district of Telangana. The incident has left their relatives in deep shock as efforts are underway to bring the mortal remains back to India.

Warangal (Telangana) [India], February 26: Students from Delhi Public School (DPS) Warangal have achieved a remarkable feat by securing a Guinness World Record in the field of dance. The achievement came through their participation in the Kuchipudi Kala Vaibhavam Mahabrunda Natya event, which was organised by the Bharath Arts Academy at the prestigious Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad some weeks ago.

The event, aimed at setting a Guinness World Record, attracted participants from various parts of the country, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of India. Among the talented individuals who represented DPS Warangal at this grand event were Anguri Shloka, M. Joshvika, Sara Sanjana, Billa Nethanya, and Gurrapu Sharvani. Their dedication, skill, and passion for Kuchipudi dance contributed significantly to the success of the event and the achievement of this prestigious world record.

The Guinness World Record attempt for the largest Kuchipudi dance performance was a testament to the talent and cultural heritage of India, showcasing the beauty and grace of this traditional dance form. DPS Warangal takes great pride in the accomplishments of its students and congratulates them on this remarkable achievement.
