Patna, Aug 4 (IANS) Just minutes after taking off from Patna's Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport on Friday, a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing due to technical glitches in one of the aircraft's engines.

Just minutes after flight 6E-2433 took off at 9.08 a.m., the pilots detected the technical glitches and immediately contacted ATC Patna.

The ATC further communicated to the ground staff of the airport authority and the plane landed safely three minutes later at 9.11 am.

The IndiGo flight was carrying 180 passengers and crew members. All of them are safe and sound.

After landing, maintenance engineers at the airport checked the plane.

Officials are trying to ascertain the exact cause of the glitches.

Patna, June 20 (IANS) A prominent gold jeweller was shot dead in Patna on Tuesday by unidentified assailants, a police official said.

The victim has been identified as Vinod Kumar, a resident of Khajekalan locality.

According to the official, the incident took place at around 7 a.m. when Kumar was heading towards Mirchai Gali on his scooty.

The assailants, after firing at him, fled from the scene.

"We have sent the body to the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. We are also scanning the CCTV cameras of the area to identify the accused," said an officer from the Patna City Chowk police station.

"We are also taking the statements of the victim's family to find clues about the possible reasons of murder," he said.

Patna, June 8 (IANS) A 12-year-old boy, trapped in a pillar cavity on a bridge in Bihar's Rohtas was Thursday successfully rescued after a marathon rescue operation lasting over 25 hours by a joint team of the SDRF, the NDRF and local administration, officials said.

The victim, Ranjan Kumar, was found unconscious when he was rescued and was taken to Sadar hospital Sasaram for treatment.

The incident occurred at Nasriganj-Daud Nagar bridge located at Atimiganj-Jamalpur village on Sone river on Wednesday afternoon, when the boy fell into the narrow gap and was unable to come out from it. Some passersby heard his screams and alerted the district administration about the incident.

The Rohtas administration called an SDRF team from Patna for the rescue operation. Rescuers provided oxygen to him through pipes and some food. Since the gap was very narrow, rescuers were unable to go there.

Ranjan Kumar is a son of Bhola Shah and native of Khiriyav village. The officials said that he is mentally weak.

Patna June 8 (IANS) Just two days after her marriage, a woman in Patna stabbed her husband on his private parts after she was angered that his parents wanted him to marry some other girl.

The incident occurred in a hotel located in the city's New Dak Bunglow Road.

The victim, Surya Bhushan Kumar, a CRPF jawan from Sitamarhi, and the accused Neha Kumari, had been in a relationship. When she came to know that his parents were arranging his marriage with another women, she coaxed him to come to Patna.

Under pressure, Kumar came to Patna on June 3 and they married in a court on June 5.

"The accused applied immense pressure on the victim to break the arrangement which was fixed by his family. They finally got married in a city court and stayed at the hotel,," said Sunil Kumar Rajwanshi, SHO of the Gandhi Maidan police station.

"But on Wednesday, the couple got into an argument over breaking the marriage, angering the woman. She said that either she would kill him and committed suicide. When the argument intensified, she pulled a knife and stabbed him on his private parts. Following the attack, the victim ran out of the room and informed the hotel staff about the incident. We have arrested the accused and further investigation is underway," he added.

Kumar is currently admitted in the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

Patna, June 1 (IANS) A Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirant, who was shot at by a psycho killer a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Thursday.

The deceased, Rahul Kumar Ojha, came to Patna from Buxar on Saturday for an examination. He was in Agam Kuan area in the city when a person named Shubham alias Nepali asked for Rs 20. On being refused, the man shot him in the stomach.

Ojha was earlier admitted to a private hospital in Kankarbagh and later shifted to Paras hospital near Raja Bazar. The doctors operated on him and he was in the ICU but succumbed to his injuries this morning.

"My son wanted to become an IAS officer and serve the country but he did not get blood in the hospital. Bihar police should do encounters of criminals similar to what the Uttar Pradesh government is doing," the victim's father said.

Notably, Subham alias Nepali is a native of Patna City Chowk area. Sandeep Singh, the City SP of Patna (Central) and a team of Patrakar Nagar police station arrested him on Tuesday.

Recently, Nepali had gunned down a paan vendor named Shahil at Bahadurpur railway over bridge. He sustained a gunshot injury in the neck and died on the spot. Few hours later, he had smashed the butt of a gun on the head of a railway employee near Rajendra Nagar railway station and fled with his mobile phone.

Patna, May 22 (IANS) A 26-year-old woman was shot at by a Bihar Police constable in Munger hours before her marriage was scheduled, police said.

The incident took place on Sunday night when the victim had gone to a beauty parlour for bridal make-up at Naya Bazar under the Kotwali police station.

The accused constable, Aman Kumar also reached there and shot at her. The bullet hit the left shoulder from behind and exited from the right side of the chest. The accused himself tried to shoot himself as well but failed.

Another woman, who was working in the parlour, tried to catch him but she failed. The accused overpowered her and fled from the spot.

"We have registered an FIR against Aman Kumar who is said to be a constable of Bihar Police and deployed in Patna. Preliminary investigation revealed that he is a jilted lover of the victim, who was angry with her marriage," said Dhirendra Kumar Pardey, the SHO Kotwali police station Munger.

"We have constituted a team to nab the accused," Pandey said.

Patna, May 15 (IANS) After the cancelation of 'Divya Darbar' of Baba Bageshwar Dham's Dhirendra Shastri on Monday, BJP MP from Patliputra Ram Kripal Yadav blamed the district administration for not providing adequate security at the venue in Patna's Naubatpur locality to conduct his 'Hanumant Katha' programme.

The religious preacher's programme on Sunday witnessed chaos after lakhs of people descended at the venue to listen to him.

"Baba Bageshwar came here for the welfare of Bihar but the crowd came in such a large number that they became uncontrollable. This was the reason why he had cancelled the Divya Darbar on Monday at the event venue. The organizers of the event have expected certain numbers of devotees but I felt that they will assemble here much more than their expectation. The district administration, despite watching the crowd turnout in large numbers, has not deployed adequate police force and a duty magistrate at the venue," Yadav said.

Over 10 lakh followers of Baba Bageshwar turned out at the venue on Sunday. As the footfall was very high, dust also spread there leading to a large number of people facing breathing problems. The temperature of Patna was over 42 degree Celsius and many of the followers also felt sick because of the excessive heat.

Meanwhile, Baba Bageshwar Bihar foundation denied levelling charges against the district administration for failing to provide adequate security arrangements at the venue.

"As the people turned out in large numbers, we cancelled the Divya Darbar scheduled for Monday. We are not blaming district administration. They have provided good support. It has a limitation," said Raj Shekher, a member of Baba Bageshwar Bihar foundation.

"The Hanumant Katha will take place on Monday," Raj Shekher said.
