In the Danapur area of Patna, Bihar, robbers disguised as customs officials looted 15 kilograms of gold in broad daylight, creating a sensation. The heist, valued at approximately ₹22 crore, has raised serious questions about security arrangements.

According to reports, the gold belonged to Sunilbhai Kishorbhai Fitchadiya, owner of the 'KV and Sons' firm located at Prahlad Plot Street No. 6 in Rajkot, and was being sent to Bihar through his employees. Mahesh Mamatora and Prince Rampariya arrived in Danapur with three bags filled with 15 kilograms of gold jewelry via the Saharsa Express train from Ahmedabad.

On Saturday afternoon, as both employees were leaving the railway station in an auto-rickshaw towards Bakarganj, they were surrounded by seven miscreants. Shortly after, other robbers arrived on a car and two motorcycles. The car had a police sticker, and the robbers were dressed in white shirts and khaki pants, making them appear like real officials.

The robbers identified themselves as customs officials and seized all three bags. They then left Prince Rampariya at the scene while taking Mahesh Mamatora away in the car to a distance before fleeing. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Khagoul police arrived at the scene and began an investigation.

The police recovered a stolen car, a motorcycle, and an empty bag used in the robbery. It is reported that the robbers removed and discarded the GPS device from the bag, indicating that the heist was well-planned. Upon learning of the incident, businessman Sunilbhai Fitchadiya and his brother Jigneshbhai rushed to Danapur.

Considering the seriousness of the case, the police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage. Initial investigations revealed that the robbers had been following the employees from the railway station.

Meanwhile, the biggest question arising is why such a large quantity of gold was being sent by train and how the robbers obtained precise information about it. The police believe that this robbery is part of a well-orchestrated conspiracy and that the culprits will be arrested soon, leading to the resolution of the case.

Bhuj, November 21. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA in the Bihar elections serves as a mandate against infiltrators in the country, emphasizing that citizens would never support political parties that back illegal immigrants. Addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations marking the 61st Raising Day of the Border Security Force in the Kutch district, Shah stated that the BSF is engaged in preventing infiltration across all national borders.

The Home Minister noted that certain political parties are opposing the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process because they intend to ensure that the names of infiltrators remain on the voter lists. Describing the SIR as a purification of the electoral rolls, Shah stated, as per agency report, that stopping infiltration is essential not only for national security but also to prevent the corruption of the country's democratic system. He remarked that while the government is running an anti-infiltration campaign, some political entities are attempting to weaken these efforts.

Shah addressed the objections raised by the opposition, including the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal where assembly elections are scheduled for next year, who have claimed that the SIR could disenfranchise millions of voters. He clarified that the process is intended to secure and purify Indian democracy and requires the full support of every citizen. The Home Minister declared a firm resolve to remove every single infiltrator from the country, asserting that the decision regarding who becomes a Chief Minister or Prime Minister rests solely with the citizens of India, and infiltrators have no right to influence these democratic decisions.

Warning the political parties engaged in protecting illegal immigrants, Shah reiterated that the Bihar election results reflected the public's sentiment against the presence of infiltrators. He added that parties working to ensure a place for infiltrators in the voter lists should realize that the people of the country will never support such intentions. During the event, the Home Minister also praised the role of the BSF in Naxal-affected areas and expressed confidence that India would soon be free from the Naxal problem due to the joint efforts of all security forces.

Patna, November 19, 2025: The major constituent parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday elected their respective legislature party leaders. In a meeting of Janata Dal (United) (JDU) MLAs, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was chosen as the leader of the legislative party. Simultaneously, the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs selected senior leader Samrat Chaudhary as their legislative party leader. Both parties confirmed this information.

The JDU meeting was held at 'Samvad' within the Chief Minister's Secretariat complex in Patna, attended by all newly elected MLAs and 22 members of the Legislative Council from the party. This decision was made ahead of a joint meeting of NDA constituent parties, where Kumar is also expected to be elected as the alliance leader.

JDU leader and outgoing state minister Shravan Kumar stated that the newly elected MLAs chose Nitish Kumar as the leader of the JDU legislative party. He informed that JDU leaders Vijay Chaudhary and Umesh Kushwaha proposed the motion, which was supported by senior JDU leader Bijendra Yadav, and subsequently endorsed by JDU's acting national president Sanjay Jha and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan'.

After being elected as the legislative party leader, Nitish Kumar addressed the assembled leaders, urging continuous efforts for the welfare of the state. Party leader Shravan Kumar announced that JDU chief Nitish Kumar, 75, will take the oath as Chief Minister for the tenth time on Thursday at Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan. He added that Kumar's election as the NDA leader in the five-party alliance meeting is certain.

Meanwhile, in the BJP legislative party meeting, newly elected MLAs chose Samrat Chaudhary as their leader. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and BJP central observer Keshav Prasad Maurya stated that BJP MLAs unanimously elected Samrat Chaudhary as the legislative party leader and Vijay Sinha as the deputy leader. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and former Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti were present as co-observers at the meeting.

A BJP leader informed that a total of 10 newly elected MLAs proposed the names of Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha as leader and deputy leader respectively, which were unanimously supported by all MLAs. After being elected as the deputy leader of the party's legislative group, Sinha told reporters that he is grateful for the trust placed in him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the top leadership. He pledged to work diligently to fulfill the Prime Minister's resolve of 'good governance to prosperity'.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters that decisions are made with love and consensus, as per agency report. He added that the public first elected the government with a huge majority, and now the legislative party has chosen its leader.

In the interim, JDU leader Shravan Kumar said that Nitish Kumar would meet Governor Arif Mohammad Khan in the evening to request the initiation of the process to form a new government. He will also submit letters of support from all NDA constituents to the Governor. He mentioned that the term of the current assembly would conclude on Wednesday. BJP leader Maurya also stated that after the election of the legislative party leaders of both parties, the NDA would formally meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government.

Following the selection of leaders for both major parties, an official meeting of all NDA constituent parties will be held. In this meeting of the alliance's legislative party, Nitish Kumar is expected to be unanimously elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party. Sources indicated that after the joint NDA meeting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with his allies, will visit the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor and stake claim to form the government. Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are also underway simultaneously.

In the 243-member assembly, the NDA secured a massive majority by winning 202 seats. In the elections, BJP won 89 seats, JDU 85, LJP (Ram Vilas) 19, 'HAM' five, and RLM four seats. BJP has become the largest party in the assembly for the first time.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the National Democratic Alliance’s sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, saying the people of the state had rejected the communal formula of those associated with the era of ‘jungle raj’ and embraced a new positive approach centred on women and youth. His remarks came during an address at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters, as per agency report.

The Prime Minister said Bihar had once again upheld the spirit of democracy, reminding the nation that the state has long been recognised as the land that gave India the honour of being the mother of democracy. He stated that the people of Bihar had ensured that those who attempted to undermine democratic values were firmly defeated.

Modi noted that the election outcome reflected a victory of truth and trust, adding that the mandate had further strengthened people’s faith in the Election Commission. He also praised the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and congratulated all NDA partners for the decisive win, saying that the people’s unwavering support had created a wave of enthusiasm across the state.

Referring to the traditional Muslim–Yadav support base of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Modi said some parties had relied on an old ‘MY formula’, but the latest verdict had introduced a new and positive MY formula that stood for women and youth. He added that Bihar’s young population—cutting across religion and caste—had played a crucial role in dismantling the divisive politics associated with the earlier jungle-raj period.

Modi said the election also demonstrated that voters, especially young voters, took the efforts to clean up electoral rolls very seriously. He pointed out that the youth of Bihar had strongly supported the extensive revision of voter lists undertaken ahead of the polls.

The Prime Minister also commended the Election Commission for ensuring peaceful and well-organised elections. Recalling the period associated with jungle-raj, he said that violence during elections had once been common, but the current process reflected how far Bihar had progressed in upholding democratic order.

Patna, November 10 – Elaborate security measures have been put in place across Bihar for the second phase of the state assembly elections scheduled for Tuesday. More than four lakh security personnel have been deployed to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling, officials said on Monday.

As per agency report, voting will take place for 122 assembly constituencies in this second and final phase, with a total of 45,399 polling stations set up, out of which 40,073 are located in rural areas.

An Election Commission official informed that over four lakh security personnel, including central and state forces, have been stationed across the state to maintain order during the polling process. Around 500 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), comprising nearly 50,000 personnel, were already deployed before the elections. An additional 500 companies were sent to Bihar in the third week of October to strengthen the security framework.

A senior official stated that over 60,000 personnel from the Bihar Police are on election duty. Along with them, approximately 2,000 troops from reserve battalions of other states, 30,000 members of the Bihar Special Armed Police, over 20,000 home guards, 19,000 trainee recruits, and about 1.5 lakh members of the rural police force have also been mobilized for duty during both phases of the elections.

When asked about the number of sensitive polling booths in the second phase, the official said that all polling stations have been deemed equally important from a security perspective. The official further added that in the first phase, polling was conducted across 121 constituencies with a voter turnout of 65 percent, marking the highest participation recorded so far.

Sasaram/Arwal, Nov 9 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused the opposition INDIA alliance of attempting to create an “infiltrator corridor” in Bihar, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is instead focused on developing an “industrial corridor” to boost the state’s progress.

As per agency report, addressing public rallies in Sasaram and Arwal on the final day of campaigning for the last phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Shah said that the future of India’s defense production lies in Bihar. He stated that the mortars to be used against Pakistan in the future would be manufactured in Bihar’s ordnance factories, reflecting Modi’s vision of a defense corridor in the state.

He attacked the opposition, saying that the recent “Voter Rights Yatra” led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was not aimed at improving the lives of the poor, Dalits, and backward communities in Bihar but was instead meant to safeguard illegal infiltrators. Shah alleged that the opposition’s vote-bank politics has driven them to create a so-called “infiltrator corridor,” whereas Modi’s policies are focused on establishing an industrial and defense network in the state to generate employment and strengthen the economy.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of “vote theft” in the country, Shah questioned why the Congress leader had not filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission if he truly believed such claims. The Home Minister further stated that during the tenure of Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, and Lalu Prasad Yadav, terrorists freely carried out attacks within the country, whereas under Modi’s leadership, India now strikes terrorists inside their own territory.

Highlighting the ongoing development of the defense corridor in Sasaram, Shah said that any future terrorist attacks from Pakistan would be met with mortars manufactured in Bihar, symbolizing the state’s growing role in national security.

He also accused the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of trying to obstruct the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Referring to history, Shah said that the Mughal emperor Babur had demolished an ancient temple 550 years ago, but under Modi’s leadership, a grand temple has now been built at the same site.

Confident of the NDA’s victory, Shah claimed that the opposition alliance led by Lalu Prasad and his partners has already been wiped out in the first phase of polling. He urged voters to remain vigilant, warning that although the opposition may present a new face, their symbols and intentions remain unchanged.

Targeting the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist), Shah said that Modi’s leadership has nearly eradicated the problem of Naxalism. However, he cautioned that if the “red flag” supporters were given even a slight chance, Bihar could once again descend into chaos and violence.

Appealing to voters, Shah urged them to press the EVM button for the NDA candidates with such force that its echo reaches Italy. Drawing a comparison between RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Shah said that while Lalu had been convicted in several corruption cases including the fodder scam, Nitish Kumar has remained free of any corruption charges despite being in power for two decades.

Munger, November 5: In a last-minute twist ahead of Bihar’s first phase of Assembly polling, Jan Suraaj’s candidate from Munger, Sanjay Singh, quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was inducted in the presence of BJP nominee Kumar Pranay and senior leaders, framing the move as a step toward development and a stable government.

As per agency report, Singh said he has been influenced by the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and intends to work with the National Democratic Alliance for his constituency’s progress. Party functionaries in Munger projected the crossover as a strategic boost that could recalibrate local electoral equations in the hours before voting.

The switch is being viewed as an election-time setback for Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, which had fielded Singh from the seat. With the defection, the contest in Munger is expected to tighten further as the BJP seeks to consolidate support under the NDA banner.

Darbhanga, November 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to voters in Bihar to support the Bharatiya Janata Party by pressing the lotus symbol on EVMs, framing the choice as a way to prevent the return of what he described as the law-and-order breakdown under previous RJD rule. He addressed an election rally in Darbhanga, positioning the National Democratic Alliance as the vehicle for comprehensive development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

As per agency report, Shah announced that, if returned to power, the NDA government would allocate ₹26,000 crore to utilise Kosi river water for irrigation and flood control across Mithilanchal, and would also leverage the waters of the Ganga, Kosi and Gandak for agriculture and flood mitigation. He added that, with the NDA in office, residents of Mithila, Kosi and Tirhut would not need to travel to Patna or Delhi for treatment, citing plans for quality medical services at AIIMS-Darbhanga.

He highlighted social-welfare commitments, stating that around 3.60 crore people have received free health insurance coverage and that an IT park in Darbhanga is expected to create jobs for youth. He criticised an RJD complaint to the Election Commission regarding the rollback of a ₹10,000 benefit for “Jeevika Didis”, asserting that successive generations of the opposition would not be able to divert funds intended for self-help groups, and pledged that the government would deposit ₹2 lakh into the beneficiaries’ accounts over the next five years.

The Home Minister accused the RJD–Congress alliance of insulting the Chhath festival deity, Chhathi Maiya, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother, claiming voters would respond at the ballot box. He urged people to vote on November 6, describing the act not merely as electing an MLA or minister but as a decision to block the resurgence of “jungle raj”. Contrasting leadership styles, he alleged that the Lalu–Tejashwi combination is adept at misgovernance and plunder, while the Modi–Nitish partnership is focused on development.

Ara/Nawada, November 2 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Bihar is the foundation of a ‘Developed India’, emphasizing that a truly developed Bihar means creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth. Addressing large election rallies in Ara and Nawada, Modi expressed confidence that the people of Bihar would give the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) a record mandate in the upcoming elections, defeating what he termed as the “era of jungle raj.”

He stated that the NDA’s manifesto is a visionary document focused on Bihar’s rapid development, built on honesty and clarity of vision. In contrast, he said, the opposition had brought forward a collection of false promises. Modi underlined that the manifesto prioritizes education, healthcare, employment generation, agricultural reforms, and women’s empowerment as central themes for the state’s progress.

As per agency report, the Prime Minister highlighted that over 1.3 crore women have already received direct financial assistance of Rs 10,000 in their bank accounts under welfare schemes. Noting Bihar’s large young population, he said the NDA’s development plan centers on skill enhancement and job creation. He added that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cottage industries in Bihar would be expanded to transform the state into eastern India’s textile and tourism hub.

Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the rural economy by combining central and state benefits for small farmers. He mentioned that under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, small farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually from the Centre, and the state government would add Rs 3,000 more. Citing past achievements, he said the NDA has consistently fulfilled its promises, from providing free ration and pucca houses to implementing the One Rank One Pension scheme for ex-servicemen.

He also referred to the abrogation of Article 370, stating that his government had restored constitutional rights in Jammu and Kashmir after seven decades. Referring to “Operation Sindoor,” Modi said the decisive military action fulfilled India’s commitment to eliminating terrorism at its roots, instilling pride among citizens.

Criticizing the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Modi accused them of being uncomfortable during India’s military successes and claimed that both parties were embroiled in internal conflicts. He alleged that the Congress never wanted the RJD leader to be projected as the chief ministerial candidate, but the decision was forced upon them. Modi accused the RJD of turning Bihar into a land of “crime, cruelty, corruption, and misrule,” recalling that the state had witnessed nearly 37,000 abductions during the earlier ‘jungle raj’ period.

He said the people of Bihar must decide whether the state’s resources belong to its citizens or to infiltrators, alleging that the opposition parties favored the latter. Modi described Congress and RJD as institutions of “jungle raj” and blamed them for destroying Bihar’s once-thriving industrial centers like Dalmianagar in Rohtas. He added that the NDA values both development and heritage, promising to transform the birthplace of Veer Kunwar Singh into a model of progress.

The Prime Minister also accused the opposition of disrespecting major festivals such as Chhath Puja and Mahakumbh, calling their remarks against these events an insult to cultural traditions. He said the people would respond to such insults through their votes, asserting that Bihar stands firmly with the NDA in the battle between good governance and misrule.

Addressing another rally in Nawada, Modi described the region as the “land of Magahi paan” and said that restoring the lost pride of Magadh and Bihar was a collective responsibility. Drawing a personal connection, he said that as the Member of Parliament from Varanasi, he understood the significance of Magahi traditions. Modi emphasized that previous governments ignored the welfare of small farmers, while his government opened their bank accounts and ensured direct transfer of PM-Kisan funds without middlemen or commissions.

Taking a dig at the Congress, he reminded the audience that a former Congress prime minister had once admitted that only a fraction of government funds reached the poor, questioning the corruption behind such leakages. Calling Bihar the land of scholar Aryabhata, Modi accused the RJD and Congress of being led by two of the most corrupt political families—one at the state level and the other at the national level.

He alleged that the alliance between the two parties was unstable, as internal disputes had already surfaced with Congress fielding candidates against its own state leadership. Modi contrasted the NDA’s experienced leadership—comprising Nitish Kumar, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, and Upendra Kushwaha—with the RJD’s legacy of lawlessness and corruption.

Recalling the fear that prevailed during earlier regimes, he said that government employees used to dread salary hikes due to extortion demands, and Naxal violence was rampant. Now, he claimed, “urban Naxals” are the ones losing sleep. Modi alleged that RJD workers were again resorting to intimidation during the current campaign, whereas the NDA government had improved the power supply situation so much that “Bihar no longer needs lanterns.”

He further said that while the opposition disrespects the state’s religious faiths, his government promotes solar energy projects inspired by the worship of the Sun God during Chhath. He announced plans for setting up new schools and engineering colleges and assured that massive investment would generate local employment for Bihar’s youth.

Highlighting Bihar’s cultural heritage, Modi said efforts were underway to attract tourists from across India and abroad to showcase the state’s glorious traditions. Concluding his address, he reiterated the popular slogan resonating across Bihar: “Once again, NDA government—good governance returns to Bihar.”

Patna, October 26 : Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the ruling Janata Dal (United) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expelled 11 leaders, including a former minister, for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities and disregarding the party’s ideology.

As per agency report, JD(U) state general secretary Chandan Kumar Singh issued a statement on Saturday evening announcing the expulsion. He said that all 11 leaders have also been suspended from the party’s primary membership following disciplinary action. The party found them involved in activities detrimental to its interests during the crucial election period.

The expelled leaders include former minister Shailesh Kumar, former MLAs Shyam Bahadur Singh and Sudarshan Kumar, as well as former Legislative Council members Sanjay Prasad and Ranvijay Singh. A senior JD(U) leader said that these members were working against the official candidates of the party and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which the JD(U) is part of in Bihar.
