Jodhpur : An auto driver, Harish Lohar, was brutally stoned to death by unidentified assailants near Jodhpur on Monday night. The incident, believed to be a robbery attempt gone wrong, has sparked outrage and sent police on a manhunt for the culprits.

According to reports, Harish was transporting a passenger, Sunil Gupta, to Sajada Dham when he was accosted by miscreants traveling in a car and a bike. After initially asking directions, the attackers pursued Harish, eventually throwing a large stone at his head. The blow caused Harish to lose control of the auto, crashing into a tree. The assailants continued their assault with the stone, fatally injuring the driver.

Passenger Sunil Gupta sustained a head injury in the crash and managed to flee the scene, later alerting the police. Despite forming search teams and scrutinizing CCTV footage, authorities have yet to identify or apprehend the suspects.

The auto driver's union has expressed strong condemnation of the crime, staging protests and demanding swift action from the police. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with robbery and personal enmity being investigated.

Jaipur, July 19 (IANS) Four members of a family, including a six-month-old child, were killed and their bodies burnt in Churai village in Jodhpur in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Police said that the incident took place around 3 a.m. when the family members were sleeping outside their house. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that they were murdered by slitting throats with a sharp-edged weapon after which everyone was dragged to the courtyard of the house and set on fire.

A forensic team and police are on the spot and conducting investigation.

Motive behind the crime is yet toi be ascertained, the police said.

Jodhpur, July 18 (IANS) A seven-year-old minor girl was raped by a peon at a private school in Jodhpur, police said, adding the accused has been arrested.

According to the victim's mother, the girl was six-years-old old when she was raped by Ashok Meghwal (23), a resident of Sawla Kala.

The police said that the accused had threatened the victim that he would kill her family member if she shared the ordeal with anyone.

ADCP Nishant Bhardwaj said following his arrest on Sunday, Meghwal has been sent to jail.

He had been working in the GK International School for at least 10 months.

The crime came to light after the girl's mother saw blood stains on her clothes while giving her a bath.

In her complaint to the police, the mother said the accused used to take her daughter to the washroom, show her obscene material on his phone and raped her three times in one year.

"My daughter was only six-years-old in class 1 at the time of the incident. He would take her to the washroom, close the door and talk dirty. He used to hit her on the leg with a stick, threatening that if she told anyone, he would kill her family members and would get her expelled from the school."

The mother further alleged that she saw marks on her leg several times, but her daughter out of fear used to say that she hurt herself while playing.

The girl's father and uncle have demanded the strictest punishment for the accused.

A medical report further confirmed that the minor had been raped.

Mumbai/Jodhpur, March 26 (IANS) The Mumbai Police in a joint operation with Jodhpur Police, have nabbed a person from Rajasthan who allegedly sent an e-mail threatening to kill Bollywood mega-star Salman Khan, an official said here on Sunday.

The development followed an FIR registered by Bandra Police on March 18 against a 21-year-old youth Dhakadram Bishnoi in the case, said Jodhpur's Luni Police officials.

The Mumbai Police in the investigations traced the threat e-mail to Rajasthan and shared the information with Jodhpur Police, which tracked it to Bishnoi.

After zeroing in on his location, a joint swoop was carried out in Luni, and Bishnoi was arrested, said the officials here.

The accused is being brought to Mumbai for further investigation by a Bandra Police Station team.

The youth is also wanted by the Punjab Police in different cases and has some cases lodged against him in that state.

It may be recalled that a week ago, the Bandra Police lodged the FIR against mafiosi Lawrence Bishnoi, his associates Goldie Brar and Rohit for the threat e-mail, sent to a close aide of the actor.

It had referred to the mafia don Lawrence Bishnoi's interview in which he made a chilling claim, that "his life's aim was to kill Salman Khan".

The e-mail in Hindi, came from one Rohit Garg, who also wanted to talk with the actor and the police booked him also following a complaint from Salman Khan's team.

The communication also advised that if Salman had not seen the Bishnoi interview, then he should watch it, and if he wanted to close the matter, he must speak with Garg and Brar, face to face, and he (Garg) would arrange it.

The Bandra Police had immediately swung into action, geared up security outside Salman's home in Bandra West and lodged the FIR against the accused.

Jaipur: A video of a senior lawyer, who was allegedly murdered in public, has gone viral, drawing flak for poor law and order situation in the state.

The incident took place at around 6 p.m. in Jodhpur on Saturday. The victim, as per police officials, was a resident of Jodhpur.

Jodhpur Commissionerate East ADCP Nazim Ali said, "The victim has been identified as Jugraj Chauhan (55). He was stabbed to death by accused Anil Chauhan and Mukesh. There was a long time enmity between the victim and accused as the duo were named accused in Jugraj's son's accident reported three years back. Due to mutual enmity, the duo committed the murder. The police have arrested both the accused."

Victim's daughter Purnima said that two youths first called him, then surrounded him while he was on bike and started attacking him with a knife. Thereafter, the accused crushed his head with stones.

She said that her father received a call. So he left the house on a bike. He had complained about threats from these people many times in the past as well, she informed.

Jugraj's son had died in an accident three years ago. Anil and Mukesh were reportedly accused in the case. It is being said that there was a dispute over a plot also. The lawyer was fighting a legal battle over the death of his son.

Enraged by these, the accused killed the lawyer, said police sources.

District President of All India Lawyers Union (AILU) Jodhpur, advocate PR Meghwal and District Secretary Mahipal Singh Charan said that there is anger among lawyers due to the incident.

CCTV footage of this case is going viral where it is clearly seen that Anil and Mukesh had already planned the murder.
