Mumbai, Feb 17 : Former India pacer Chetan Sharma has stepped down as the chief selector of the men's national cricket team after his controversial comments in a TV sting operation. Sharma's resignation was expected after a video of him making several shocking claims about Team India and many top players went viral on social media platforms. In the video, Sharma talked about the ego clash between former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli, claimed that some Indian cricketers take injections despite being 80% fit, and said that Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya paid him frequent visits. Sharma also claimed that Virat Kohli had started to consider himself bigger than the game, and that the BCCI was eager to remove him from the leadership role.

The BCCI will soon begin the process of finding a new chief selector, which usually takes time as candidates file their nomination, are shortlisted, and then interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee, which comprises Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape, and Sulakshana Naik.
