Jamnagar, August 27 – The Government Dental College and Hospital in Jamnagar has been recognized at the national level for its remarkable efforts in raising awareness about oral health and highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco use. The institution was honored by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with a prestigious award, marking the second consecutive year it has received this recognition.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his delight at the achievement, stating that the honor was not only a matter of pride for the institution but for the entire state of Gujarat. The Chief Minister’s Office, in a post on social media platform X, emphasized that maintaining dental health is essential for overall well-being and praised the college for its continued initiatives to promote oral hygiene and educate the public about the dangers of tobacco consumption.

Earlier, the Jamnagar District Collector also congratulated the college and hospital, acknowledging the achievement as a moment of pride for the state. The Collector’s Office, in its social media message, commended the institution for winning a national award from the Union Health Ministry and bringing recognition to the region.

As per agency report, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare annually encourages dental colleges and hospitals across the country to conduct awareness programs on oral health and the harmful impact of tobacco use. Awards are given to institutions that organize the best initiatives under this campaign. Jamnagar, April 4 – A tragic incident occurred in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district where a 32-year-old woman allegedly took her own life by jumping into a well along with her four children. The incident took place in Sumra village of Dhrol taluka, as confirmed by local police authorities on Friday.

As per agency report, the bodies of the woman and three of her children were discovered floating in the well on Thursday, bringing the case to light. Police retrieved all five bodies from the well and sent them for postmortem examination.

Inspector H.R. Rathod of Dhrol Police Station stated that the deceased woman, identified as Bhanuben Toria, jumped into the well with her children – Ritvik (3), Anandi (4), Aju (8), and Ayush (10). The motive behind the extreme step is not yet known, and investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.

A case has been registered, and further inquiries are ongoing.

Jamnagar, March 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Vantara Animal Rescue, Conservation, and Rehabilitation Center in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district on Sunday morning. Spread across 3,000 acres within the Reliance Jamnagar refinery complex, Vantara is dedicated to wildlife welfare, providing sanctuary, rehabilitation, and medical care to animals rescued from abuse and exploitation.

As per agency report, following his visit to Vantara, Prime Minister Modi will head to the renowned Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath district to offer prayers. He will also chair a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust, which oversees the management of this historic religious site. The Prime Minister serves as the chairman of the trust.

During his Gujarat tour, Modi arrived on Saturday evening to participate in several key programs, including chairing a meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) at the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary headquarters in Sasan.

After an overnight stay in Sasan, Modi is scheduled to enjoy a jungle safari on Monday. Upon returning to Sinh Sadan, he will preside over the NBWL meeting in his capacity as its ex-officio chairman. The board consists of 47 members, including the Chief of Army Staff, representatives from various states, NGOs working in the wildlife sector, Chief Wildlife Wardens, and state secretaries. Officials have confirmed that following the meeting, the Prime Minister will also engage in discussions with female forest officers in Sasan.

Jamnagar, August 18 (IANS) Responding to a recent video clip that captured a public altercation involving BJP MLA Rivaba Jadeja and Jamnagar Lok Sabha MP Poonamben Madam, the latter on Friday said the the disagreement arose from a minor misunderstanding that has now been resolved.

June 23, Jamnagar / Ahmedabad – A tragic event unfolded on Friday evening in Sadhna Colony, Jamnagar, as a three-story housing board building crumbled to the ground, causing three fatalities and leaving five injured. The rescue operation is ongoing, with fears rising that more people may still be trapped under the wreckage.

The collapsed structure, a 25-to-30-year-old apartment building, held six units and was home to several families. The victims who lost their lives in the disaster have been identified as Mittalben Sadia (35), Jaipal Sadia (35), and Shivraj Sadia (4). The injured, now receiving medical attention, are Kanchanben Joisher, Parulben Joisher, Hitanshi Jaipal, Deviben, and Rajubhai Ghelabhai.

The building, known as house number M-69 of the Housing Board in the Sadhna Colony area, imploded with such force that the sound echoed through the neighbourhood, reducing the six flats spread across three floors into a pile of rubble. In response to the disaster, fire brigade units, 108 emergency ambulance services, and heavy machinery for debris removal were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Eyewitnesses recalled the dramatic scene as the building came down with a tremendous noise around 5 pm, engulfing the area in a thick cloud of dust. At the time of the collapse, several people were inside the building, amplifying the risk and severity of the situation.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Jamnagar MP Poonam Madam, MLAs Divyesh Akbari and Rivaba Jadeja, Mayor Binaben Kothari, as well as police and administration officials, arrived on site to assess the situation and coordinate the ongoing rescue efforts. As the sun sets on Sadhna Colony, the search for survivors amongst the rubble continues into the night, with hope diminishing as hours pass.

Jamnagar, Gujarat: A two-and-a-half-year-old girl fell into a 250-feet-deep borewell in Tamachan village of Jamnagar district in Gujarat around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, triggering a major rescue operation. The girl, identified as a daughter of a labor family originally from Madhya Pradesh, is believed to be trapped at a depth of 20 feet.

Upon receiving the news of the incident, a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and two fire brigade teams were promptly dispatched to the scene. The rescue teams are working tirelessly to bring the child out safely from the borewell.

The incident occurred when the child was playing near an open borewell while her family, among other laborers, was engaged in farm work in the area. Witnesses on the scene quickly alerted the fire brigade and local authorities, who initiated the rescue operation.

A spokesperson from the fire brigade reported that a deep pit is being dug approximately 5 feet away from the borewell to aid in the rescue effort. Meanwhile, provisions have been made to supply oxygen to the trapped girl. Utilizing a camera, the rescue team has been able to confirm the child's position within the borewell, with her hands visibly captured by the camera.

Rescue teams from the NDRF, Army, 108 Emergency Ambulance Service, Police, and local Administration were still at the scene working towards the child's safe retrieval as of 4 p.m. Tehsildar Parikshit Parmar stated that the rescue efforts have been ongoing since the morning. Deputy Fire Officer CN Pandian confirmed that the child belongs to a labor family from Madhya Pradesh, who is currently working in Gujarat.

A retired government employee living in Radhe Krishna Park area of Jamnagar city was duped of Rs 10 lakhs by Faiz Tours and Travels, a tour operator based in Ahmedabad, on the pretext of taking him for Hajj in 2022. The manager of the tour company had come into contact with the couple and had told them that he takes people for Hajj every year. However, after depositing Rs 10 lakh 10 thousand for visa and ticket for the Hajj trip in Sahinben's account, the couple did not receive the promised documents. After repeated attempts to contact the manager, the couple filed a complaint with the City-A Division Police Station.

The complaint was filed against the female manager of the tour company and another person. The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter. Such cases of fraud have been increasing in recent times, and authorities have urged people to be cautious when dealing with unknown tour operators or companies.
