Speaking at the “Ideas Matter Most” session on October 19, Mr Shah, the only speaker from Gujarat, shared his thoughts on networking and the importance of pushing beyond comfort zones to an enthusiastic audience of students and aspiring entrepreneurs.

In his address, Mr Shah emphasised the need to transcend formal education for leadership and highlighted the value of adaptability and out-of-the-box thinking in today’s increasingly competitive world. He also spoke about the pivotal role of networking, saying “Your network is your net worth”.

He detailed his active involvement in organisations such as Young Indians, Young Presidents Organisation, Corporate Connections, Business Network International (BNI), GCCI and JITO and underscored how giving back through knowledge, time or resources to these networks strengthens one’s personal and professional growth.

A staunch advocate for the societal impact of entrepreneurship, Mr Shah shared his perspective on how startups today are addressing daily challenges while contributing to the greater good.

“Entrepreneurship drives meaningful change in society. Startups not only solve problems but also contribute to nation-building by integrating social causes and entrepreneurship,” he said.

In his concluding remarks, he encouraged students to embrace discomfort and risk, urging them to step out of their comfort zones.

“Comfort zones are danger zones. You need to decide if you want to be big or if you want to grow old. If you want to grow big, you have to take risks,” he added.

Lucknow, Jan 8 (IANS) Several pregnant women in Kanpur have requested doctors at a government hospital to schedule their deliveries for January 22, coinciding with the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Seema Dwivedi, the Head of the Department, revealed that numerous families have insisted that their children be born on this significant day.

"In the labour room, we have received requests from more than 14 to 15 families for deliveries specifically on January 22. While it is impossible to guarantee normal deliveries, we have explained to those requiring surgery that the dates can be adjusted within a reasonable timeframe," she said.

Dwivedi, however, said that the hospital has arranged for nearly 30 operations to take place on January 22 to accommodate the demand. The hospital performs 14 to 15 operations a day.

Expressing their aspirations, families emphasised their desire for the arrival of their newborns to coincide with the historic day of the Ram Temple's 'Pran Pratishtha'.

"We want the birth of our child to align with the arrival of Ram Lalla in our homes. Waiting for the Ram temple for 100 years, it will be a fortunate moment when our child enters the world," said a family member of a woman, whose delivery due date is close to January 22.

These parents-to-be believe that if a child is born at an auspicious time, it creates a positive impact on the baby's personality.

As the first phase of the Ram temple approaches completion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Lalla's idol on January 22 in Ayodhya.

The Vedic rituals for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Lalla are scheduled to commence on January 16, a week before the main ceremony.

Ram temple construction committee chief Nripendra Mishra told reporters that the old Ram Lalla statue will be placed before new one, and it will be called "Utsav Ram".

After January 16, both the statues will be placed in the new Ram Mandir.

Kanpur, July 10 (IANS) A man, accused of abducting and raping a teenage girl, allegedly swallowed a lizard in police custody in Kanpur because he did not want to go to jail.

The incident came to light after the condition of the man worsened and the police took him to Bhitargaon community health centre from where the doctors referred him to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.

On June 14, the girl’s father, resident of a village in the Sadh police station area, had informed the police that his 18-year-old daughter had been taken away by one of their women relatives.

Police registered a case on the father's complaint and started investigating the matter.

Police later traced the location of the girl to Bengaluru.

A police team caught a man and rescued the girl on Sunday.

During interrogation, the man identified himself as Mahesh Kumar, 24, a resident of Kishanpur village in Fatehpur district.

In the statement given by the girl to the police, she said that she was abducted and raped.

Later, the accused, Mahesh, caught and ate the lizard while in lockup. 

Kanpur, July 9 (IANS) The All-India Chess Federation (AICF) on Sunday announced the 10-member contingent for the Asian Games, scheduled to commence on September 23 in Hangzhou, China, which will be led by double Asian Games gold medallist Koneru Humpy and bronze medallist Dronavalli Harika.

The announcement of the Indian contingent was made during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the AICF held here on Sunday.

In the team event, which will be played in a standard format, all renowned Grandmasters (GMs) D. Gukesh, Vidit Gujrathi, P. Harikrishna, Arjun Erigaisi and R. Praggnanandhaa have been selected.

On the other hand, Humpy, Harika, R. Vaishali, Vantika Aggarwal, and B. Savitha Shri have been chosen to form the women's team for the event.

Humpy won the gold in women's individual and mixed team gold medals at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha while Harika secured an individual bronze at the 2010 edition of the Asian Games in Guangzhou.

In the individual event, to be played in Rapid format, Vidit and Arjun are selected to compete in the men's category while Humpy and Harika will participate in the women's event.

AICF president Sanjay Kapoor, who headed the general body meeting, said that the Indian chess league might finally be a reality as he announced to invite tenders for the same.

Speaking on a landmark decision the AICF chief told IANS, "We will be putting out a tender in 10 days time."

In another major transformation move, the AICF president announced that a special management board under the leadership of the AICF President will be set up to run things smoothly under a professional setup. This committee will overlook all important affairs of AICF.

"It (management board) will be presided over by the president itself. He will be going to appoint all the professionals, who will be in direct talk to him," the AICF chief said.

Asked if there will be any former players on the management board, Kapoor said, "If you want to be an appointment you can apply, it's a job. All the associations are an honourary job. These are professionals in their own field so that they can run the federation professionally."

In the meeting, it was planned to have a development programme for All States and in this regard, all affiliates of AICF will receive 7 Lakhs per annum in addition to 200 Chess sets.

Besides, AICF also decided to bring on board a professional agency to look after the revenue and bring in more sponsorship.

Kanpur, June 22 (IANS) In a first-of-its-kind initiative, a virtual investigator will guide the police, from catching cybercriminals to helping convict them in a court of law.

The initiative is backed by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K). The fight against spiralling cases of cybercrime will begin in Telangana and will consequently move to other states.

Prof. Manindra Agarwal, head of the state-of-the-art C3iHub of IIT Kanpur, has developed AI-backed tools for the Telangana police that will serve as a step-by-step guide for the police from commission to conviction, like an investigator.

The system that has not been named yet, has a robust database of all patterns of cybercrimes, which it would automatically classify.

When a crime takes place, the system will direct the police to cases in the past with similar or near identical modus operandi. It would throw up details of people arrested for those crimes and areas from where they have been operating.

"This system will self-analyse and suggest to the police the nature of information they need to process and gather to trace the people behind the crime," said Agrawal.

The tools developed will even help the police build a solid case against the criminals arrested, he said.

"At present, the Telangana police is the readiest force in terms of infrastructure and trained manpower. It will shortly start using these tools that will be constantly upgraded to pre-empt cybercriminals employing new techniques and technology, After this, technology will be shared with other states," he stated.

C3iHub is into building a cybersecurity ecosystem for the government. It will constantly monitor security vulnerabilities in critical sectors and develop tools to address them at different levels of system architecture.

Other than this, the hub does a cybersecurity audit for the government and provides a security operation control mechanism that allows the user to see information about cyberattacks on servers, flow of malware, among other things, in real time.

A severe road accident in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district claimed the lives of five passengers and injured thirteen others when a bus traveling from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur to Gujarat's Ahmedabad collided with a trolley. The local police relayed this tragic information on Thursday morning.

The accident took place on the Maksi-Ujjain road between Maksi and the village of Kaytha at around 4:00 AM, according to Gopal Singh Chauhan, the officer-in-charge at the Maksi police station. The bus, operated by Sharda Travels (license plate UP 75 AT 4799), suffered significant damage, with the front portion completely crushed. Some of the injured passengers were found on the road, while others were trapped inside the bus wreckage.

Three passengers died at the accident scene, while two more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Meerabai (45), Ramjanki (40), Radha (18), Sumitra (50), and Lalsingh (70), all residents of Uttar Pradesh. The injured, including Sandeep (25), Amit (28), Parmatma (50), Neeru (22), Kaushalya (38), Sheela (32), Pushpa Devi (40), Anjali (13), Kajal (16), Gopal (25), Kedar Singh (34), Gopal Porwal (30), and Ram Kiloni (51), were transported to Ujjain for treatment.

Passenger accounts reveal that the bus was speeding in the night when the accident occurred, catching the sleeping passengers unawares. The police have launched an investigation into the tragic incident.

Kanpur, March 31 (IANS) At least 500 shops were gutted in a massive fire that broke out during the wee hours on Friday in the Basmandi area in Kanpur.

Firefighters were able to rescue all the people trapped in the building in AR Tower.

As many as two dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire and the operation lasted more than six hours.

More than two dozen fire tenders are on the spot, trying to douse the inferno.

The flames spread to the adjacent market and buildings due to strong winds. Affected areas include Masood Tower 1, Masood Tower 2 and Hamraaz Complex.

"The fire is under control now. No one is trapped in the building," said Ajay Kumar, Deputy Director, Uttar Pradesh Fire Service.

In an intriguing incident, a pigeon carrying a message in Urdu, with blood stains on the other side, was discovered in Kathara village in Kanpur, India. The pigeon was found perched at the entrance of a local resident's house with a piece of paper tied around its neck using a white thread.

Farmer Dharmendra Kushwaha found the pigeon while feeding his cattle and managed to capture it with the help of his neighbors. On closer inspection, he found the message to contain seven lines of Urdu written in blue ink in a square box, prompting speculation as to the meaning behind the message.

The villagers placed the pigeon in a cage and alerted the police control room, while they also searched for Urdu experts to decipher the message's meaning. The police attempted to release the pigeon, but it kept returning.

Authorities are now investigating the incident and are urging the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the message or the pigeon. The mystery surrounding the pigeon and its message has left many people guessing, with some speculating that it may be a coded message or a symbol of something more significant.
