He clarified that candidates will not need to register anew or pay any additional application fee for this re-examination.

The NTA is currently determining exam centers and dates in collaboration with its technical team to ensure that the process remains completely secure and organized. In discussions with the media, DG Abhishek Singh acknowledged that the agency takes responsibility for the disruptions in the examination system, which is why a stringent decision was made to cancel the exam to maintain integrity. He mentioned that the responsibility for a thorough investigation of the matter has been assigned to the CBI.

The NTA has appealed to the investigative agency to identify and take strict legal action against any individuals involved in the paper leak, whether external or within the department, to prevent such incidents in the future. The Director General reassured over 2.2 million candidates that the current developments will not adversely affect the NTA's future examinations.

He stated that the agency is committed to restoring its credibility and the trust of students, and the re-examination will be conducted with complete transparency and without any errors. It is noteworthy that this entrance exam, held on May 3, was canceled by the central government on Tuesday following allegations of a paper leak, after which preparations for a new conduct have begun.

A shocking news has emerged for millions of medical candidates across the country.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the cancellation of the NEET UG exam held on May 3, 2026. This strict decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India after serious allegations of paper leak and exam fraud. The agency clarified that a new exam will be conducted to maintain the integrity of the examination, with the date and admit card schedule to be released soon on the official website.

According to a statement issued by the NTA, after receiving inputs regarding the irregularities in the exam, the matter has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for an independent inquiry. On May 8, the case was sent to central agencies for preliminary investigation, and based on their report, it was deemed necessary to cancel the current process. The government has made it clear that strict action will be taken against the guilty.

The agency also assured that it will provide technical assistance and all necessary records during the investigation process to prevent such incidents in the future. Considering the difficulties faced by millions of students, the NTA has made a relief announcement that students will not need to reapply for the upcoming exam. The previous registration data and candidate information will remain valid.

Additionally, no extra examination fee will be charged from the students, and reports suggest that a plan is being made to refund the fees already submitted. The agency has appealed to students and parents to avoid rumors circulating on social media and to rely only on official information.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has warned that the OMR sheet is completely scanned by machines, so incomplete bubbles, tick marks, or selecting multiple options will invalidate even correct answers.

Candidates are advised to reserve at least 15 minutes at the end to fill the OMR sheet and to fill in the dark blue or black bubble only after matching each question number. A record 22,79,743 candidates have registered for the exam scheduled on May 3, which is the highest number to date. The increasing interest of women in the medical field has surprised everyone; out of the total applicants, 13,32,928 are women, accounting for approximately 58 percent of the total.

The number of male candidates recorded is 9,46,815. According to the NTA, there is no scope for correction or overwriting on the OMR sheet, so first-time test takers are advised to practice at home with a timer on a sample sheet to avoid panic at the last moment. On the exam day, May 3, rain and thunderstorms are expected in several states across the country.

In this regard, the NTA has issued a special advisory for candidates. They have been instructed to leave for their centers well in advance, considering the weather and potential flooding.

It is important to note that the gates of the examination centers will be strictly closed at 1:30 PM, and no entry will be allowed under any circumstances after that. Students should not forget to carry their admit cards along with necessary arrangements suitable for the weather and identification documents to avoid any unpleasant situations.

Savani School, secured the top rank in Gujarat and an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 6. Scoring 680 out of 720 marks, Jenil credited his success to his two years of consistent hard work, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents.

Expressing his joy, Jenil thanked his teachers and parents for guiding him through the journey. "My teachers resolved all my doubts promptly and constantly motivated me. I believe the key to success is continuous preparation and regular revision of whatever one studies," he said.

Jenil shared that this year’s paper was considerably tougher compared to the last five or six years. He followed a disciplined study plan, dedicating 5 to 6 hours daily after school and strictly avoiding social media. "I used my phone only for essential study-related tasks. Wasting time on social media could have cost me my rank," he noted.

Reflecting on the exam experience, Jenil said the biology and chemistry sections were manageable, but physics was especially challenging. “I usually finished mock tests in one and a half hours, but during the actual exam, I used the full three hours, mostly due to the physics section,” he shared.

For revision, Jenil adopted a unique method. He maintained a separate notebook for quick points and important topics, which helped him save time and improve retention. He also kept a dedicated copy to record and review his mistakes, ensuring he didn’t repeat them.

Jenil began his NEET preparation in Class 9 through a foundation course at his school. Both his parents, who hold science degrees, consistently motivated him throughout his academic journey. Apart from NEET, Jenil also appeared for JEE and scored an impressive 99.99 percentile.

Despite scoring 680 in NEET, Jenil believes a little more attention could have placed him at the top. “Only three questions went wrong. The AIR 1 scorer has 686 marks—just six marks ahead,” he said.

Jenil had earlier scored 96% in Class 10 and over 97% in Class 12, reflecting his strong academic track record. His dream is to pursue MBBS from AIIMS Delhi and later specialize in surgery through a super-specialty MS program.

The directive was issued on Friday by a bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath, which also included Justices Sanjay Kumar and N. V. Anjaria.

As per agency report, the court emphasized that conducting the examination in two separate sessions could lead to discrepancies and arbitrary outcomes. The bench observed that the difficulty level of two different question papers can never be truly identical, thus creating potential unfairness for candidates.

The court further directed the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangements to ensure that the exam is held in one session and that complete transparency is maintained throughout the process. The decision came while hearing a petition that challenged the notification to conduct NEET-PG 2025 in two shifts.

This ruling aims to maintain fairness and uniformity in one of the country’s most competitive medical entrance exams.

The accused, identified as Vipul Mulshankar Taraiya, 44, was posing as an educational consultant and is a resident of Iskcon Ambito on Mavadi-Kankat Road.

As per media report, Vipul Taraiya had been collecting hefty amounts from several parents under the false pretext of securing favorable NEET exam results for their children. Preliminary investigation by the Crime Branch has revealed that the gang defrauded at least five students and their families so far. Other accused in the racket include Rajesh Haribhai Pethani from Dhoraji, Dhaval Sanghvi from Udaipur, Prakash Taraiya currently residing in Surat, and Manjeet Jain from Belgaum, Karnataka.

The scam came to light after Tusharbhai Vekariya from Jetpur lodged a formal complaint, alleging that he was duped of Rs 30 lakh after being assured of a high score in NEET for his son. Following the complaint, PSI Anirudhsinh Jadeja and his team launched a swift operation, leading to the arrest of the prime accused Vipul Taraiya.

According to officials, Taraiya also runs an agricultural products agency alongside his fraudulent educational consultancy. During the course of investigation, it was found that in some cases the gang had demanded as much as Rs 60 lakh from parents desperate for their children to succeed in the highly competitive medical entrance exam.

The Crime Branch is now expanding the scope of its investigation to identify other victims who may have fallen prey to the scam. Authorities have appealed to the public and parents to come forward and report any such fraudulent activity directly to the Crime Branch without delay.

In 2024, the preliminary exam was conducted on June 16, with 9,92,599 candidates applying and 5,83,213 appearing for it. Out of them, 14,627 qualified for the written (mains) examination held in September 2024, and 2,845 candidates cleared the mains to appear for the personality test conducted between January 7 and April 17, 2025.

Among the successful candidates, 335 are from the general category, 109 from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 318 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 160 from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 87 from Scheduled Tribes (ST).

As per agency report, the list of top scorers includes seven candidates from Rajasthan, three each from Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, two each from Delhi, West Bengal, and Gujarat, and one candidate each from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Among the 24 top scorers, two are female candidates.

Of these high-scoring candidates, 21 belong to the general category, while one candidate each represents the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories.

More than 9.92 lakh candidates appeared in the second session of this highly competitive engineering entrance exam. In comparison, over 10.61 lakh students had appeared for the first session.

NTA clarified that the NTA score is a normalized score and not a direct percentage. It is calculated on the basis of the relative performance of candidates in multi-session exams and is mapped on a scale ranging from 100 to 0.

The results from both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE (Main) will determine eligibility for the JEE (Advanced) examination, which leads to admission in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). For candidates who appeared in both sessions, the higher of their two scores has been considered for ranking.

The examination was conducted in 13 languages including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. A total of 531 exam centers were set up across 300 cities, including 15 international locations such as Manama, Doha, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh, Singapore, Kuwait City, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, West Java, Washington, Lagos, and Munich.

During the second session, results for 110 candidates were withheld due to the use of unfair means including submission of fake documents. Additionally, 23 results were withheld due to discrepancies in photographs, biometric data, or other identity-related details. These candidates have been asked to submit verified identity proof from a gazetted officer within a stipulated time to have their results released.

In the previous session, 39 candidates had also been debarred for involvement in malpractice.
