72 fishermen from Valsad and Navsari districts, stranded amid escalating war-like conditions between Iran and the US, have returned safely to their homeland. With the efforts of the Indian government, all the fishermen were first brought to Chennai Airport, from where they were transported to the Valsad Circuit House by two buses.

Upon their arrival in Valsad on Monday morning, the fishermen received a grand welcome. Gujarat government cabinet minister Kanubhai Desai, MLA Bharatbhai Patel, district collector Bhavya Verma, and several officials were present during the event. As soon as they returned home, the fishermen raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and became emotional upon reuniting with their families.

According to reports, these fishermen had gone to Iran for employment and had been stranded there since February 28 due to war-like conditions. As the situation worsened, they made a video pleading for help, prompting the administration to take action. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the efforts of External Affairs Minister S.

Jaishankar, discussions were held with the Iranian government to ensure their safe return. Fisherman Rajeshbhai Patel mentioned that during the bombing, their boat's GPS system had failed, and they were forced to stay in a room in fear for a month. With the airport closed, there was no hope of returning, but with the help of the Indian government, they were safely evacuated.

After arriving in India from Iran, Union Minister Piyush Goyal also welcomed them at Chennai Airport. This successful rescue operation not only demonstrates the government's promptness but also exemplifies its commitment to citizens in times of crisis.

Valsad, December 12. Five laborers sustained injuries when a structure of a bridge currently under construction collapsed in the Valsad district of Gujarat on Friday morning. Officials confirmed the development and provided details regarding the rescue operations and the condition of the workers involved.

The incident took place around 9:15 am while work was being conducted to level the main beam or girder of the bridge situated over the Aurang River. Superintendent of Police Yuvrajsinh Jadeja stated that the five laborers who had been trapped under the debris were rescued and subsequently shifted to a hospital. He confirmed that none of the workers were in critical condition. As per agency report, the local fire department cleared the debris from the site, and the district administration indicated that the incident would be subjected to an investigation.

Valsad District Collector Bhavya Verma informed that out of the five injured persons, four are in stable condition, while one has been kept under observation at the hospital. Verma explained that the accident occurred while ground-level load balancing work for the girder was being carried out, which is a procedure undertaken before the slab is cast. He added that the Roads and Buildings Department will conduct a detailed probe to determine the precise cause of the accident.

An official mentioned that the bridge is being constructed at a cost of 45 crore rupees. The project was approved two years ago, and the official noted that the construction work is expected to be completed within a year.

Valsad, February 19 – A tragic incident unfolded in Gujarat’s Valsad district when four college students drowned in a river while on a picnic. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Pandav Kund, the source of the Koli River, police officials confirmed on Wednesday.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Karanraj Vaghela, a group of eight students from KBS College in Vapi had gone to the Pandav Kund for a picnic. While enjoying the outing, one student jumped into the river for a swim but began to struggle. In an attempt to rescue him, four other students also jumped in, but they too started drowning.

Hearing their cries for help, locals from Rohia Talat village rushed to the scene and managed to pull them out of the water. However, by the time they were taken to Kaprada Community Health Center, four students were declared dead, while one was successfully rescued.

The deceased students, aged between 19 and 22 years, were residents of Dabhel in the Union Territory of Daman. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death at the Kaprada Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Valsad, December 1 - A minor in Gujarat's Valsad district has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 16-year-old friend following a dispute over a broken phone. Police disclosed the details of the incident on Sunday.

The accused reportedly broke his friend's phone and, when the victim demanded money for repairs, the confrontation escalated to murder. Authorities revealed that the accused lured his friend to an abandoned building in Pardi town, Valsad, under the pretense of resolving the issue. Once there, the accused pushed the victim into an elevator shaft, causing severe injuries.

The victim’s father reported that his son had left home on the morning of November 27 but failed to return for two days. Later that day, the boy’s body was discovered in the elevator shaft of an industrial building behind Pardi ITI.

Upon launching an investigation, the district crime branch and a special operations group reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area. This led to the apprehension of the victim’s minor friend.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to killing his friend due to repeated demands for money to fix the broken phone. Police said the accused lured the victim to the building under the pretense of paying him, then pushed him into the shaft. Afterward, he hit the victim's head multiple times with a brick, concealed the body with bricks and bushes, and fled the scene.

The accused has confessed to the crime, and legal proceedings are underway. Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

Valsad, Gujarat: Cyber fraudsters have devised a new method of cheating in Valsad district, Gujarat, targeting drivers with fake traffic violation memos on WhatsApp. The criminals send memos to drivers, claiming they have violated traffic rules and must pay fines. They then send a Application Key (APK) file and instruct the drivers to download it on their mobile phones to pay the fine online. However, this is a scam to obtain the drivers' bank details.

The Valsad Police have not yet identified or apprehended the individuals behind this fraud. Complaints indicate that the scammers are using phone numbers from outside the state, particularly from North and South India. The police are investigating the matter to put an end to this fraudulent activity. The public is advised to be cautious and verify the authenticity of messages before taking any action.

Some time ago in Valsad, miscreants made video calls on WhatsApp, tricking men into exposing themselves and recording videos for blackmail. This form of cyber fraud, known as "sexostrone," led to numerous cases. Similarly, incidents occurred in Daman, where police arrested two individuals involved in similar crimes.

On World Mother Language Day, celebrated on February 21, teachers in Dharampur, Kaprada, and Umargam were praised for learning local dialects before teaching. The state government also developed training modules to preserve these languages. Children in these areas are taught in local dialects, such as Dhodia, Koonkani, and Warli, in grades 1 to 2 and 30% of their education in grades 3 to 4.

For example, instead of asking students if they have seen a crow, asking "Kawla pahel" in their local dialect elicits an immediate response.

The Valsad district has nine different dialects, including Dhodiya, Kukna, Warli, and Nehri, which change from village to village. Teachers receive three-day training from the Education Department Gandhinagar and two-day training from the District Education Training Bhavan on the local dialects.

The preservation of local dialects is crucial for preserving cultural heritage and connecting with the community. Teachers in Gujarat set an example for embracing linguistic diversity to promote a child's education and cultural identity.
