Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 11: As India races toward becoming a global economic powerhouse while pursuing one of the world’s most ambitious clean energy transitions, transmission infrastructure is emerging as the critical backbone supporting the country’s growing electricity needs.

India’s electricity demand has witnessed unprecedented growth over the past decade, fuelled by rapid industrialisation, urbanisation, digitalisation, increasing household electrification, expansion of manufacturing activities, rising air-conditioning penetration and the growth of data centres and electric mobility. India’s peak power demand has increased significantly from 162 GW in 2017 to nearly 250 GW in 2024 and is expected to reach approximately 270 GW by 2026, highlighting the urgent need for stronger transmission infrastructure capable of delivering reliable power across the country.

At the same time, India has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030, making it one of the largest clean energy transitions underway anywhere in the world. While solar and wind energy capacities continue to expand rapidly across states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the success of this transition depends not only on generating clean energy but also on efficiently transporting it to major consumption centres located hundreds of kilometres away.

Industry experts increasingly emphasise that transmission infrastructure has become as critical as power generation itself. Renewable energy resources are often concentrated in specific geographies, whereas industrial clusters, commercial centres and densely populated urban regions account for the bulk of electricity consumption. A robust transmission network is therefore essential to bridge this gap, ensuring reliable, affordable and uninterrupted electricity supply across the nation.

India’s transmission sector has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years. The country currently operates more than 5 lakh circuit kilometres of transmission lines at 220 kV and above, creating one of the world’s largest interconnected power grids. These transmission networks facilitate seamless transfer of electricity between regions, improve grid stability, reduce transmission losses and strengthen national energy security.

Recognising the strategic importance of transmission infrastructure in India’s energy future, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has unveiled a long-term transmission development roadmap requiring investments of approximately ₹7.93 lakh crore. The roadmap aims to integrate more than 900 GW of non-fossil fuel generation capacity by FY36 and includes substantial additions to the country’s transmission network to support future electricity demand and renewable energy integration.

Against this backdrop, Khavda IV C Power Transmission Limited is developing a strategically significant 258-km, 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting South Olpad (GIS) in Gujarat with Boisar-II (GIS) in Maharashtra. The project is designed to strengthen interstate power transfer capabilities, enhance grid reliability and facilitate efficient evacuation and transmission of electricity across western India.

The transmission corridor forms an important component of India’s evolving power infrastructure and contributes to the country’s broader objective of building a resilient and future-ready electricity network. High-capacity 765 kV transmission systems are globally recognised for their ability to transmit large volumes of electricity over long distances with greater efficiency and lower technical losses, making them particularly important for integrating renewable energy into the grid.

The benefits of such infrastructure extend far beyond the power sector. Reliable electricity enables industrial productivity, supports manufacturing growth, powers digital infrastructure and data centres, improves healthcare and educational facilities, strengthens agricultural operations and enhances overall quality of life for millions of citizens. As India continues to urbanise and industrialise, transmission infrastructure will play a vital role in sustaining economic growth while ensuring equitable access to energy.

Furthermore, strengthened transmission networks help optimise power generation resources, reduce regional supply-demand imbalances, improve electricity market efficiency and support the development of a unified national power market. They also provide greater resilience against disruptions and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid at scale.

Through the South Olpad–Boisar-II transmission project, Khavda IV C Power Transmission Limited is contributing to India’s long-term energy security, renewable energy ambitions and infrastructure development agenda. The project aligns closely with the nation’s vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 while supporting the growing power requirements of households, industries and businesses across the country.

Alongside this critical infrastructure development, the company continues to undertake community engagement initiatives focused on rural development, livelihood enhancement, environmental sustainability and social well-being, ensuring that infrastructure-led growth creates meaningful and lasting value for local communities.

Commenting on the results and performance, Mr. Kamlesh Patel, Chairman and Managing Director said, “We have emerged stronger through this challenging period and remain confident about our growth trajectory going forward. Healthy domestic demand, improved operational efficiencies, and stronger gross margins contributed to our performance during the year. We are encouraged by the positive demand environment and the normalization of production across all manufacturing facilities. While higher gas prices and elevated export freight costs remain industry challenges, strong domestic demand and our expanding market presence position us well for sustained growth. We remain focused on strengthening our brand, distribution network, and product portfolio while pursuing our long-term vision of becoming a Rs. 6,000 crore revenue company over the next three to six years.”

Our business has normalized with all our manufacturing units operational. We continue to witness strong demand and are focusing more on domestic market as export container price has escalated due to geo-political uncertainty. While all our plants are operational now some labour problems are still there and we are hopeful to resolve it soon. However, short-term challenges remain with increase in gas price.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 26: Ahmedabad-based startup DROOU officially launched its AI-powered insurance management app for insurance agents and advisors during a grand live event titled “AI for Insurance Agents – LIVE Show” held at AMA, Ahmedabad. More than 200 insurance advisors, agents, and industry professionals attended the launch event, making it one of Gujarat’s notable technology launches focused on the insurance and InsurTech sector.

Positioned as a next-generation AI insurance management app in India, DROOU has been developed specifically for Indian insurance professionals looking to automate daily operations, improve customer servicing, and manage policy renewals efficiently. The platform combines AI-powered automation, insurance CRM capabilities, renewal tracking, and customer insights into a single digital ecosystem for advisors.

India’s insurance industry is currently witnessing rapid expansion, driven by increasing digital adoption, rising financial awareness, and government-backed insurance penetration initiatives. According to industry estimates, India’s insurance market is expected to surpass USD 220 billion by 2027, while the country’s InsurTech ecosystem is projected to grow at over 30% CAGR in the coming years. Simultaneously, AI adoption across financial services is helping businesses improve efficiency, automate operations, and deliver faster customer service — especially in sectors like insurance where agents handle large volumes of policy documents, renewals, and customer communication daily.

As digital transformation accelerates across the insurance ecosystem, the demand for solutions such as an insurance agent app in India, insurance renewal reminder app in India, and AI-enabled insurance CRM in India is rising significantly among independent advisors and agencies.

Built specifically for Indian insurance professionals, DROOU allows advisors to upload policy documents directly into the platform, which then generates AI-powered summaries, customer insights, renewal reminders, policy details, and actionable business intelligence. The platform acts as an integrated insurance CRM solution designed to significantly reduce manual work, improve advisor productivity, and streamline policy management operations.

The biggest announcement of the evening was the launch of Ziva, DROOU’s entry-level AI plan offered completely free for life. Positioned as a free insurance management app for agents in India, the initiative has been introduced to help independent agents, first-generation advisors, and small insurance professionals adopt AI technology without financial barriers.

Speaking at the launch, Hemant Darji, Chief Product Officer of DROOU, who brings over 15 years of experience across insurance and technology sectors, said “India’s insurance advisor ecosystem is growing rapidly, but most agents still spend countless hours managing policy files, renewals, and manual processes. DROOU was built to solve these real operational challenges through AI. Our goal is simple — give advisors their time back so they can focus on serving customers and growing their business.”

Industry experts at the event also discussed how artificial intelligence is expected to become a major growth driver for India’s insurance ecosystem over the next decade. With increasing customer expectations, growing policy volumes, and rising digital adoption, AI-based automation is emerging as a key solution for improving efficiency, reducing response time, and enhancing customer engagement for advisors and agencies alike.

The event additionally introduced KDJ – Kaun Dega Javaab, an engaging insurance knowledge game where participants answer industry-related questions within 30 seconds. The initiative was designed to improve product knowledge and encourage learning in an interactive format.

Several attendees registered on the DROOU platform during the launch event itself, reflecting strong interest from the insurance advisor community toward AI-led business solutions and digital insurance workflow automation tools.

With Ahmedabad emerging as a growing startup and technology hub, DROOU’s launch highlights Gujarat’s increasing contribution to India’s rapidly evolving AI, SaaS, and fintech ecosystem. Gujarat has witnessed significant growth in technology startups over the last few years, with AI-driven business platforms and fintech innovations becoming key focus areas for entrepreneurs and investors alike.

The company also confirmed plans to take the “AI for Insurance Agents – LIVE Show” to multiple cities across India in the coming months as part of its nationwide expansion strategy, further strengthening DROOU’s vision of becoming one of India’s leading AI-powered platforms for insurance professionals.

The local body elections in Gujarat have indicated the political direction of the state, where the ruling BJP has recorded a sweeping victory from urban to rural areas, leaving the opposition behind. The results of the extensive local body elections in Gujarat have once again proven the strong organizational grip of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The BJP has achieved victory in all 15 municipal corporations of the state, establishing complete dominance in urban politics. According to the latest figures from the Election Commission, the party has secured more than half of the total seats in the municipal corporations, with a clean sweep in Morbi municipal corporation, capturing all 52 seats. This major electoral exercise, held on April 26, included voting for 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats.

Over 4.18 crore voters participated in this election, which is considered a significant indicator of the political atmosphere ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The BJP's performance in rural areas has also been impressive. Out of a total of 1,090 seats in 34 district panchayats, the BJP won 568 seats, while Congress had to settle for 77 seats, and other parties secured 30 seats.

In the 260 taluka panchayats, the BJP maintained its influence by winning 2,397 out of 5,234 seats, while Congress received 591 seats and others got 329 seats. In Surat municipal corporation, the BJP won 115 out of 120 seats, nearly sidelining the opposition. The Aam Aadmi Party, which had performed notably in the previous elections, was reduced to just four seats this time, while Congress managed to secure only one seat.

The result from the Dahgam municipality was also noteworthy, where the BJP's 23-year-old candidate Rishi Deepakkumar Amin won from ward number 5, earning the distinction of being the youngest elected representative. In terms of voter turnout, 55.1% was recorded in the municipal corporations, while 65.53% in municipalities, 66.64% in district panchayats, and 67.26% in taluka panchayats. The newly formed Gandhidham municipal corporation saw the lowest turnout at 46.03%, while Vapi recorded the highest at 72.29%.

In Ahmedabad municipal corporation, 51.81% of voters exercised their franchise. A notable aspect of these elections was that nine new municipal corporations, including Navsari, Gandhidham, Morbi, Vapi, Anand, Nadiad, Mehsana, Porbandar, and Surendranagar, held voting for the first time. Additionally, several districts underwent delimitation and ward reorganization under revised OBC reservation criteria, which influenced the electoral equations.

There was a direct contest among the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party, along with the presence of smaller parties and independent candidates in various regions. The entire election was conducted peacefully through EVMs at thousands of centers, marking it as a successful administrative exercise.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], April 11: JG University has announced the opening of admissions for the academic year 2026–27 for its School of Management, introducing a distinctive academic pathway for students aspiring to build careers in civil services and public leadership. The university has launched BBA (Hons), and iMBA programs in Public Administration, uniquely designed with an embedded UPSC and GPSC preparation curriculum.

With India witnessing an increasing number of aspirants preparing for civil services, the need for structured and early academic preparation has become more important than ever. Each year, over one million candidates appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, while state-level examinations such as the GPSC continue to attract thousands of aspirants across Gujarat. Recognizing this growing demand, JG University has developed an innovative program that integrates competitive exam preparation with a comprehensive management education.

The curriculum has been carefully designed to bridge the gap between traditional academic learning and competitive examination readiness. By embedding UPSC and GPSC-oriented subjects within a management degree, the program allows students to build a strong foundation in public administration, governance, policy-making, ethics, economics, and analytical thinking from the early stages of their academic journey.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Achyut Dani, Director General and Provost of JG University, said, “At JG University, we believe that education must empower students to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation. By integrating UPSC and GPSC preparation within our management programs, we aim to provide a strong academic foundation while nurturing the leadership, analytical abilities, and civic understanding required for careers in civil services. Our objective is to create an ecosystem where students can simultaneously pursue a professional degree and prepare for one of India’s most respected career paths.”

India’s governance and public administration ecosystem is undergoing rapid transformation driven by digital governance, policy innovation, and citizen-centric administration. With initiatives such as Digital India and administrative reforms, the country increasingly requires professionals who understand both management principles and public systems. Careers in services such as IAS, IPS, IRS, and IFS remain among the most prestigious, offering opportunities to drive policy impact and societal change.

Through this initiative, the School of Management at JG University aims to nurture future administrators, policy leaders, and public sector professionals by combining academic rigor, competitive exam orientation, and practical exposure to governance frameworks.

Admissions for the 2026–27 academic session are now open. Interested students can apply through the university’s official website www.jguni.in or contact +91 7567 7567 58 / 59 for further details.

With this new program, JG University continues to strengthen its commitment to academic innovation and nation-building by preparing the next generation of leaders for India’s evolving governance landscape.

New Delhi [India], April 09: In a noteworthy milestone for Indian cinema, the short film ‘Innovatio’ has proudly clinched the ‘Silver Award in the Super Short Film’ category at the prestigious Paris Film Awards (France). This accolade emphasises the film’s compelling narrative amid a highly competitive global landscape, particularly in a category that emphasises precision, brevity, and originality.

Director of Photography Darshan Venkat, with cinematography by Sriram and choreography by Ganesh, ‘Innovatio’ showcases the talents of a dedicated crew, including sound engineer Amresh and writer-director Sukanya Basu Mallik. Produced under the ‘Clips and Pages’ banner, the film features a talented ensemble cast, including Jeeva, Gokul, Srivatsan, Ganesh, Pavithra, and Nandhini, all of whom contribute to a cohesive cinematic experience. Editing, handled by Jeeva, along with Cassate Band Recordz and post-production by Sakthi D and SFX Echt Media Works and Studios, plays a crucial role in shaping the film’s pacing and storytelling—a key element in the super short format, where every frame carries significant narrative weight. The film’s makeup artists, Humairah and Priya, further enhance its visual appeal.

The success of ‘Innovatio’ is not confined to the international stage. The film has also been awarded the ‘Best Indian Short Film’ at the Tamizhagam International Film Festival in Chennai, echoing its positive reception among domestic audiences and critics alike. This dual recognition reflects the film’s ability to resonate across different cultural landscapes while maintaining a unique creative voice.

‘Innovatio’ is distinguished by its conceptual clarity and effective execution, exemplifying the growing trend of micro-cinema. Filmmakers are increasingly exploring compact storytelling formats without sacrificing thematic depth. Even in its brief duration, the film showcases an acute understanding of visual economy and emotional resonance—qualities essential to contemporary short filmmaking.

The project benefited from the support of Dhevi Illam and Chennai Podcast as venue partners, highlighting the collaborative ecosystem that fosters independent filmmaking in Chennai. Such partnerships play an instrumental role in providing platforms for emerging filmmakers to bring their visions to life and exhibit their work.

With its recognition at the Paris Film Awards, ‘Innovatio’ joins an expanding group of Indian short films receiving international attention, indicating a significant shift in global interest toward regional and independent cinema from India. This achievement not only marks a milestone for the creative team behind the film but also underscores the potential of super short films as a compelling storytelling medium in today’s rapidly evolving cinematic landscape.

Actor Srivatsan said he appreciated the film’s core idea—highlighting the sacrifices of soldiers’ families within a 5-minute format—and added that working with the team was enjoyable, especially playing a soldier.

Sukanya expresses, “Bringing together so many talented professionals and accomplishing this in a new state, where I’m unfamiliar with the language—along with this being my first time making a short film professionally—was genuinely challenging. However, now that it has received recognition for its value, I am truly pleased.” We extend our congratulations to her and her team and look forward to many more shorts and other projects under her direction.
